Bianca's Story! Today Bianca was in for a post partum x ray to ensure all of her babies came out. She was a special pregnancy, as she had surgical artificial insemination to become pregnant. Specially chosen frozen Semen was shipped to us as requested by her owners and her hormones were monitored until everything aligned for best opportunity in the cycle. Dr Caven preformed the procedure and about 25 days later Bianca was confirmed pregnant by ultrasound. She had a pre partum xray to allow the owner to know how many to expect, but there was truly was a 'dog pile' of skeletons inside her and we could only estimate 8-10. Well late yesterday through last night, the babies started to come! After 10 babies were out there were some serious concerns, Bianca was straining an painful and could not get comfortable. #11 was stuck, so at 4 AM on speaker phone Dr. Caven was able to talk the owner through assisting the stuck big boy into the world! Bianca settled almost immediately and went to work taking care of her new babies. She came in this AM with her tired set of puppy midwives for a check up and to ensure no pup was left inside. The big boy and his tiniest sister were a bit dehydrated, even though they had suckled, so they received some warm sub cutaneous fluids to give them a boost! All the puppies nursed and the new family went home! What a great start to the day!!!
