Mountain Farrier Services Welcome to Mountain Farrier Services! My name is Katie Beaudoin, welcome to my farrier page. As such I do not offer traditional shoes currently.

I am an Olds College Advanced Farrier Science graduate who studied under Dean Sinclair. I graduated in 2014 and pursued an apprenticeship in Saskatchewan after graduation for the ABC barefoot method. After completing my apprenticeship I returned to AB and apprenticed under a talented farrier in Alberta who primarily did keg shoeing and trimming. I never continued on with my forging education after

school to my eternal regret. I have pursued the use of adhesives and mixed mediums for a more progressive shoeing method. I believe this is the future of horse shoes and I’m constantly working to learn new techniques to keep my skills up to date with the newest technology. I am very pro steel shoes, it just isn’t something I’m currently set up for. This page is to showcase what I've learned, to share some knowledge and hopefully learn a bit too. Being a farrier is an ever learning process but I have chosen to continue my education as much as possible. I’m not currently accepting new clients but I do still take emergency calls.

Our Story

My name is Katie O'Farrell, welcome to my farrier page. I am an Olds College Advanced Farrier Science Graduate who studied under Dean Sinclair. I also apprenticed under an ABC barefoot trimmer for 3 months and studied their methods in the ABC certification course. Some of this information has been useful to me in my Farrier career and some of it has not. I am not a “barefoot trimmer”, I am a certified Farrier and it happens that most of my clients horses do not need shoes. I then went on to study under another farrier in AB for almost a year and I have learned a great deal from him. I look forward to bringing my skill to your horses feet for a better healthier horse.

This page is to showcase what I've learned, to share some knowledge and hopefully learn a bit too. Please feel free to share experiences and opinions here, or to ask questions.
