them to stay where they are most comfortable. We will take care of ALL of your beloved furry(or not) family members including dogs, cats, birds, fish, snakes, lizards, arachnids, frogs, turtles, mice, rats, hamsters, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, and more! WHAT IS A 'DROP IN' VISIT? We only visit pets in their own home and do not take them to our home. We “drop in” for their feeding times (breakfast, dinner), dispensing medication, potty breaks, playtime, walks, watering plants, mail pick-up, and more. You can choose which type of visits work best and create your own custom schedule (maximum of 4 visits per day). MISSION STATEMENT

Today is Cheese Lovers Day! I personally love cheese, but it can also be used for training dogs and as a special treat or to hide pills. Furryornot Gang member Cooper has it with his medication and he loves it enough to just gobble it down. But, I know some dogs who get wise and will spit their pill out.

Dogs can be lactose intolerant though, so not all dogs do well with it. If a dog is lactose intolerant it can cause intestinal upset.

Can you help our sweet boy?? Jalapeño’s journey hasn’t been easy. This brave 3-year-old cat was found alone at a truck stop, struggling to survive. Brought to LAPS by a concerned passer-by, he arrived with swollen, crusted eyes, a respiratory infection, and ear mites. Diagnosed with Entropion (a painful condition where his eyelashes are scraping his eyes) he now needs a specialist surgery to save his vision after his firsts surgery didn’t heal as planned.

Jalapeño has been in our care for 100 days battling this condition and waiting for a chance to see the world pain-free. He needs your help.. the TOTAL cost of his surgeries and all of his care is around $6,000 and we want to make sure he gets everything he needs as he is such a deserving boy. Every donation makes a difference. You can make a difference! ❤️

🐈 If you have one or two indoor-only cats between 6 months and 13 years of age, you can help researchers at the University of Edinburgh with a study about environmental enrichment! 😺

Feline expert Professor Danielle Gunn-Moore and her team are investigating the impact of environmental enrichment on the wellbeing of indoor cats. The study will compare four enrichment methods:

🐾 Daily playing using a wand toy
🐾 15 minutes of Cat TV per day
🐾 Installation of a Feliway Diffuser
🐾 Encouraging food foraging

Those who participate will be assigned one of these methods to try over 14 days.

Wrestlemania has nothing on Gracie and Hugo. Gracie has some amazing wrestling moves, Hugo looks worried. I think ultimately Gracie is the victor. This made me laugh so hard, I love these two.

Today is Kiss a Ginger Day so we are celebrating the red heads in the Furryornot Gang. Featuring Charlie, some Fishies, Max, Murphy, and Mango! We love the gingers and will kiss them with consent. Except for the fish, since I don’t snorkel they don’t get kisses and I suspect they prefer it that way.

Today is National Cuddle Up Day! Cuddling is a serious part of Furryornot Petcare business procedures. We love cuddling! But, not all pets want to cuddle so we respect their space when needed. It is important to observe body language and determine what the pet likes and does not like.

Does your pet love cuddles? Are they always up for cuddles or only at certain times? Moxie always wants cuddles. Ziggy likes to cuddle a lot, but particularly likes whisker pets. Bean likes cuddles on the bathroom and kitchen counter.

I think one of my favourite birds is the Pileated Woodpecker, closely tied with the Southern Ground Hornbill.

Today is Pet Travel Safety Day and we have a few tips for you. Take your pet for a check-up and ensure they have all the vaccinations and paperwork needed for traveling to your destination.

Prep a pet-friendly travel kit:
- enough food for the trip
- bowls, p**p bags, leash
- ID and proof of vaccinations
- favourite treats and toys
- a well ventilated crate or carrier, blankets, & p*e pads

Don't leave your pet alone in the car, especially in warmer weather. And, invest in a dog seat belt attachment and/or harness if travelling by car just in case.

It’s officially summer and the hot weather can really take a toll on our pets. When it’s hot, please leave your pets at home while doing errands. It is always 10 degrees hotter in your vehicle than it is outside after just 10 minutes, and after 20 minutes can almost double. Parking in the shade and leaving the window open a crack is just not enough. Please also watch closely for signs of heat stroke. Early signs of heatstroke in pet animals Panting, this can progress to distressed or noisy breathing as the heatstroke worsens. Restlessness or agitation, pacing, seeking shade or water. Drooling. Red gums or tongue. Increased heart rate. Vomiting or diarrhoea. If you notice any of these symptoms please get your pet into a cool place and provide water. It’s Garden Week.🤓 For a great dog friendly plant and natural shader, consider adding sunflowers to your yard or balcony. These are a beautiful and bright addition to your garden and also produce rich bird seed for our local bird population in the autumn. 🐕 🦜 Another great plant to consider for your furry felines is cat grass. Cat grass, is packed with antioxidants, chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that promote cat health, plus fiber to support digestion. They will love grazing and keep themselves occupied for hours. 🐈 And for a nostalgic and cost effective pollinator you can consider wildflower mixes. Bees prefer blue, purple, and yellow flowers, and sweet fragrances. They see ultraviolet colors – found on the flowers such as buttercups and black-eyed Susans. It’s important to include your pets in any emergency plans you make for your household. They are totally dependent on you for their safety and well-being. June is Pet Preparedness Month and the American Red Cross has steps you can follow to make an emergency plan for your animals. CREATE A PET EMERGENCY PLAN Know a safe place to take your pets. Know which hotels and motels along your evacuation route will accept pets in an emergency. Call ahead for reservations if you know you may need to evacuate. Ask if no-pet policies could be waived in an emergency. PET EMERGENCY KIT Place the following items in a sturdy, easy-to-carry container: Sturdy leashes, harnesses and/or carriers to transport pets safely and ensure that they can’t escape. Food, drinking water, bowls, cat litter/pan and a manual can opener if your pet eats canned food. Medications and copies of medical records stored in a waterproof container. A first aid kit. Current photos of you with your pet(s) in case they get lost. Since many pets look alike, this will help to eliminate mistaken identity and confusion. Information on feeding schedules, medical conditions, behavior problems, and the name and number of your veterinarian in case you have to foster or board your pets.
