Here is another cute photo round up of the Furryornot gang. Featuring the adorable and funny Hannah the Owl, Wendy from the Shadows, disapproving Gracie, curious Pico, Echo and Fox focused on important things, and Weiner and her Precious. I think the prevailing theme with these is just how awesome pets are and we are lucky to know them.

I believe I have met Ziggy and since he shares a name with our Spokescat I jumped at making a small contribution to the fundraiser. If you can please share this campaign with friends and donate if you are able so we can make sure he can live pain free.

Meet Ziggy — From the Streets to a Second Chance 🐾

For over a year, Ziggy wandered the streets of Abbotsford. We believe he was abandoned—left to fend for himself, getting into fights, weathering storms, and surviving on scraps. But everything changed when one incredible woman started feeding him, slowly earning his trust day by day.

With her help, we got Ziggy neutered and vaccinated... but during his vet visit, we found something more: two badly broken teeth that are causing him daily pain and putting him at risk of infection. 💔

Now Ziggy needs urgent dental surgery to remove them—and we need your help to make that happen.

💸 We’re raising $1,000–$1,800 to cover the cost of his surgery, medications, and recovery. Every dollar makes a difference in helping this sweet community cat live the pain-free life he deserves.

One of my favourite pet care tips is simply to pay attention and observe the pet. Pay attention to changes in behaviour and appearance. You will need to know a baseline to measure against but as you get to know the pet you can tell if they are eating or peeing more or less than usual. If their p**p looks odd or if they are scratching their ear. Or maybe they are hiding when they are normally outgoing or having a hard time getting up or limping. Sometimes the signs are more subtle but if we keep an eye out for changes we are more likely to catch something early and be able to act fast and get them to the Vet.

Cats in particular are known for hiding their pain but may express discomfort by napping more, hiding, or maybe staying lower to the ground instead of their favourite perch. Dogs try really hard to keep going and will push themselves through pain but may express discomfort by walking more slowly, not eating as much or with the usual enthusiasm.

Taking notes helps a lot to keep track of subtle changes so if you have a concern, a pet with a previous health issue, or maybe an aging pet just start marking down your observations and the dates to help get a better picture of what is going on. Then you have more information for when you take your pet in for a check up at their Vet which helps them assess what is going on.
