Hobo Haven Rescue Visit our website at hobohavenrescue.ca for more information. We cannot do it alone. Passion for animals brings us together.

Hobo Haven is a not for profit dog rescue dedicated to assisting homeless dogs in our community, primarily assisting with owner surrenders and shelters/pounds with dogs in need. Hobo Haven Rescue, located in St Jacobs ON was founded in 2003, and is dedicated to our mission of “no dog left behind”

Hobo Haven Rescue was inspired by an abandoned dog who was witnessed as dumped in our area and brough

t to us to help, whom we nicknamed Hobo. Due to a lack of foster homes, Hobo was surrendered to a local shelter who proceeded to euthanize him 3 days later due to a simple ear infection. Hobo Haven vowed to work hard to assist helpless, unclaimed strays and dogs in need of medical care, to recover and find amazing new forever homes after providing all of their required vetting and TLC. Hobo Haven Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers devoted to assisting homeless dogs to help them find new forever homes within Ontario Canada. We do not import pets, we focus on our local communities within to provide support to dog owners needing to surrender their dogs and to rural pounds and shelters needing assistance for unclaimed strays or dogs who would thrive best in a foster home environment. We also accept retired breeding dogs from commercial kennels into our program, to provide them with all of the medical care, rehab and TLC they require to help them learn how to live their new lives as beloved, cherished family members before finding their forever homes. We are not a shelter or kennel, we are entirely foster home based, offering each dog in our care as much love and TLC as we do our own, provided by carefully screened foster families who are equally passionate about making a difference in the lives of dogs in need. Please consider fostering, transporting, volunteering, adopting or fundraising to help us help more. IT TAKES A VILLAGE

Our amazing team of volunteers are small but mighty, and genuinely committed to helping our animals by providing a safe haven where their new lives may begin again, after we provide each dog with necessary veterinary care, rehab and training. It is seeing the difference we make for every precious soul entrusted to our care, one by one, that fuels that passion.

We are in need of more drivers all across Ontario.

If you have two hours to spare, have a car and love animals, we want to talk to you !

An hour or two or so.....

Once a week,
Once every few weeks,
Once a month,
Once every few months,
Once in awhile,
Once in a blue moon....

Whatever once or onces you choose, you make a difference.

When you complete your first run, we will send you a $25 gas card!

FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED FOSTERS STILL NEEDED: 5 x 8 week Golden/Poodle mix puppies aka "Doodles" PUPDATE July 19th-all 8 retriever mix puppies are safe thanks to #rescuesworkingtogether and our amazing team~! We still need suitable fosters for many more puppies waiting as well as retired breeding adults SUITABLE FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED Puppies of all ages/breeds/sizes as well as retired breeding adults For anyone seriously interested in fostering, we do require an application to be submitted and to complete our screening process before a foster home is approved https://hobohavenrescue.ca/dog-foster-application Foster criteria for puppies includes : Home often to meet the mental/emotional and physical needs of puppies Within 30-45mins of St Jacobs and have your own transportation and ability to attend vet appts in Waterloo or Arthur, as well as visit St Jacobs for food/supply pick ups and meetings Hobo Haven Rescue provides everything for our dogs including food/supplies and all vet care is covered of course. Foster families provide dedicated care, training and time We are often asked how long a foster dog will be in your home. There is no answer for this question except to say until they are adopted. All dogs receive all of their vetting and as much time as we feel they need to decompress and work on training and socialization while we get to know them very well in order to assess their needs for their future forever homes. We have a thorough application screening process which must be completed/applications approved prior to placing any dogs into foster family homes MANY commercial breeders are literally culling (destroying) entire litters of unsold puppies, retiring breeding adults and we cannot help them without foster families to save them!
