Hobo Haven is a not for profit dog rescue dedicated to assisting homeless dogs in our community, primarily assisting with owner surrenders and shelters/pounds with dogs in need. Hobo Haven Rescue, located in St Jacobs ON was founded in 2003, and is dedicated to our mission of “no dog left behind”

Hobo Haven Rescue was inspired by an abandoned dog who was witnessed as dumped in our area and brough

t to us to help, whom we nicknamed Hobo. Due to a lack of foster homes, Hobo was surrendered to a local shelter who proceeded to euthanize him 3 days later due to a simple ear infection. Hobo Haven vowed to work hard to assist helpless, unclaimed strays and dogs in need of medical care, to recover and find amazing new forever homes after providing all of their required vetting and TLC. Hobo Haven Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers devoted to assisting homeless dogs to help them find new forever homes within Ontario Canada. We do not import pets, we focus on our local communities within to provide support to dog owners needing to surrender their dogs and to rural pounds and shelters needing assistance for unclaimed strays or dogs who would thrive best in a foster home environment. We also accept retired breeding dogs from commercial kennels into our program, to provide them with all of the medical care, rehab and TLC they require to help them learn how to live their new lives as beloved, cherished family members before finding their forever homes. We are not a shelter or kennel, we are entirely foster home based, offering each dog in our care as much love and TLC as we do our own, provided by carefully screened foster families who are equally passionate about making a difference in the lives of dogs in need. Our amazing team of volunteers are small but mighty, and genuinely committed to helping our animals by providing a safe haven where their new lives may begin again, after we provide each dog with necessary veterinary care, rehab and training. It is seeing the difference we make for every precious soul entrusted to our care, one by one, that fuels that passion.

This darling Bernese Mtn Dog joined today as an unclaimed stray dog found, after her pound hold ended
Dheera is in horrifying condition poor girl!

Severely emaciated with a massive intestinal parasite load
Odd abdominal scar that may be a "breeder's done C section" 😞
Bilateral severe ear infections neglected so long that she has ulcerations and split hematomas causing her so much pain for no one knows how long 😞
Thanks to Nicole and her team at Fur-Ever Loved Pet Salon, Dheera has been bathed, gently grooming and received so much TLC until she could come into the loving care of our foster
Happy “re-birthday” Dheera!
Dheera is scheduled for her urgent vet appt tomorrow

NEEDED: Used storage bin for outdoor use. Deck box or old ice boxes no longer working are great, we're not picky as long as they are waterproof to keep donations and deliveries safe and dry :)

Where do your donations go?
Dogs like precious Tullie could not be saved without the incredible kindness and support of you!
Tullie has rocked her surgery to remove 2 larger mammary tumours (hopefully benign) and 3 smaller ones, spay surgery and partial dental and is now recovering with a bright happy healthy future ahead!

Pupdate for Pippens fundraiser! Thanks to the incredible generosity of many whom donated for Christmas, Pippen has passed the halfway mark of his fundraiser goal towards his upcoming dental specialist appt on Jan 16th!
Hobo Haven Rescue will be uploading a new Jan fundraiser auction soon to help Pippen achieve his goal!

Most rescuers know the Starfish Story, but it always bears sharing. Rescue can be daunting, and the need is never ending. Of course, we can’t save every single animal, but we can still make a difference for each individual that we help. If there’s one resolution to take forward into the New Year, it should be to focus on what we can do, and not allow ourselves to be discouraged or overwhelmed by what we can’t. One by one, until there are none!

He was surrendered Nov 13th on very short notice by a commercial breeder Alfie is a very sweet, very busy puppy currently weighing 3.3kg and growing. Notes: *Children must be 8+ yrs/respectful and dog savvy * Requires a family with someone home often, not just lunch visits, due to his need for frequent outings, and mental stimulation and training sessions throughout the day * As an active young puppy with a life expectancy of 15+yrs , this dog requires a family who is able to meet all of their needs for their entire lives. Geriatric applicants are not an appropriate match for this reason. *MANDATORY Must be located within approx 1hr of Waterloo Ontario as part of his neuter contract to return to our vet, at our expense, for his neuter surgery when age appropriate.
