🚨Delta Update!🚨

She’s home and she’s as of right now, healthy. With the dreaded parvo knocking on our doors we didn’t want to take any chances when Delta had bad diarrhea..You know the saying… better to be safe than sorry.

After a night of fluids, and some medication, Delta had a negative parvo test this morning, which was some of the best news ever.

While she was away at her one night, all inclusive stay at the vet. Our staff and volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work, unpacking a whole lot of elbow grease, disinfectant and hot water into every nook, cranny and crevice.

Delta returned home mid morning to the kennels sparkling from their deep clean. She will continue some special medication to ease her tummy issues and staff will continue to monitor her for any concerns. We have also adjusted her diet to hopefully ease her discomfort and not give us another round of heart palpitations with any more runny stools…

We want to thank everyone who held Delta and Linny in their thoughts these past couple days. Amidst the chaos and heart break we held our breath hoping for this outcome for Delta.

The total vet bill for both Linny and Delta was $1808.75. We are beyond thankful to our donors, because of you, your donations covered 85% of the bill! THANK YOU 🙏❤️ Your continued support allows us to continue helping every animal that walks through our doors, no matter the obstacles at hand.

Parvovirus has potentially struck again 💔

Unfortunately, Delta, may be stepping into the parvo fighting ring.

This vibrant little girl is gearing up for the fight of her life and she’s going to need all of her fans cheering her on from the stands. Our fighter is in strong spirits still! She’s active, eating and drinking, which are all promising signs.

Delta was hospitalized this evening for a quality one on one stay to give her the best chances at winning this fight. Round the clock medical care and fluids will keep Deltas spirits high.

Please keep Delta in your thoughts, and send her all the positive vibes. 💕

In times of rescue, we often see and share our happiest moments. Unfortunately, with our greatest accomplishments, also comes what feels like our greatest sorrows.

We take this moment to share with devastating heartbreak that Linny did not survive his fight against parvo.

Despite the vet doing everything within his power to help him, Linny's condition continued to worsen, and his little body was unable to fight off the virus. We are so grateful to everyone who donated and voiced their support for Linny. Donations that were received in Linnys' name will be used to pay the vet bill and any remaining funds will be put towards future medical emergencies.

We want to say a very big thank you to Dr. Stickney for his dedication and effort put into helping Linny. It does not go unnoticed. 🫶

Our time with you was brief. Linny, you knew love, warmth, and kindness at the end of your brief journey earth side. May the rainbow bridge carry you to endless green fields, bountiful food dishes, and warm muddy puddles!

Rest easy, Linny, we won’t forget you. 🐾🌈

It seems our luck has finally run out. The dreaded P.A.R.V.O. has one of our newest additions in its clutches.

This is not the news we were wanting to share today… Linny tested positive for parvo this morning and is currently hospitalized. 💔

If left untreated this virus is often fatal for young pups, and even if they receive the best medical care, their little, vulnerable bodies are sometimes unable to beat the illness. 🥲

Our heart breaks every time we have pups with parvo, as it’s such a preventable disease. Parvo is 100% preventable by vaccination, so PLEASE make sure your animals are up to date on their vaccines. 💉

Having Linny hospitalized with parvo comes at a major expense! Saving his life is ABSOLUTELY worth it. But we can’t do it without your help and support!

CANINE PARVOVIRUS ALERT!

📍Unfortunately, a dog in the shelter has tested positive for parvo. The dog did not originate from High Level but was found in town. This means that the Parvovirus is in and around High Level.

🦠Parvovirus is highly contagious and results in symptoms including loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea (may contain blood). Parvo affects dogs of any age that are not up to date on vaccines.

⏰ This virus can survive for up to 7 years in the environment. It can withstand routine cleaning, which means the spread of the virus is hard to control. It is important to understand that your dog does not need to have direct contact with an infected dog for them to become infected with Parvo themselves.

💉 Thankfully, Parvo can be easily prevented with vaccinations! So please, if your puppy or adult dog is due for vaccines, we encourage you to book them in ASAP! It is important to remember that even if your adult dog has had their puppy course, they still need annual vaccines to keep them up to date and covered for Parvo.

🐾 Please share with local friends and family so we can keep all our fur-babies happy and healthy!

Saturday, January 18, was an absolutely crisp and sunny day! It was a perfect day to brave the frigid temperatures and enjoy a helicopter tour over High Level, generously donated by Delta Helicopters.

The winners of our Christmas Donation Drive, Mark MacLean, his wife Melanie, and their two children, William and Sara, were met at the Delta Helicopters hangar by Allan. After going over some safety rules and acquainting them with their pilot, the MacLean family took to the skies! We think it's safe to say they thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Thank you, Delta Helicopters and Allan, for the memorable day and for donating our big prize for this year's donation drive. Everyone had a blast!

One year anniversary alert!

Blaze joined us during a deep freeze just over one year ago. She has brought the bountiful shepherd energy into our attendants daily routines. 365 days later Blaze has seen endless love, and warmth. This beautiful girl deserves a family that is going to go the extra mile to help burn some of her endless energy.

Happy One Year Anniversary Koda! It’s a day we hoped we wouldn’t have reached. A milestone we do not like celebrating but here we are. This handsome loveable energy filled guy has had a years full of meals, and a warm place to sleep every night. Friends to keep him company, and staff that give the best scratches! As we take a moment to celebrate the life that was saved that fateful day he was brought in let’s take a moment to reflect how far he has come. Koda came to us a very timid dog. He shied away from the affection and love that the staff tried to show. Slowly but surely staff gained his trust. His bubbly personality began to shine through the fear. Today let’s spread the word that he’s ready, willing and able to find his furever home! He’s excited to experience the warmth and love that only a family can give. Koda is ready! At the end of the day…. When all the chaos is over. We cannot even begin to express our gratitude! The tally has been done and our Holiday Cookie Campaign was #1 for our region! We set the bar HIGH and we surpassed it with flying colours! We want to thank everyone who purchased cookies, our volunteers for decorating, our board members for their endless dedication, and of course Tim Hortons High Level! It’s a fabulous Tuesday to wrap up our Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign! 350 cookies got wrapped, packaged and delivered today. We never know what to expect heading into a fundraiser but our expectations were exceeded! We set the bar and with the help of the community we blew past it!
