We are very excited that Revolution Animals is able to offer in home vet services in addition to our in clinic care. This can be your primary vet service or complimentary to your usual vet clinic if you have a dog that prefers to stay out of the clinic as much as possible.

Most vet care can be provided in the comfort of your home and we work to make it a positive experience for your animal by being patient and using cooperative care techniques.

Our Calm Canines program is getting a makeover!

We are always looking for ways to better help animals and their people so we are introducing some changes to our popular program. The Calm Canines program will provide 3 levels of behaviour modification and support from intro to advanced. Whether you are addressing issues with your adolescent dog or reactivity with your adult dog, the intro level will be individually tailored to your needs and prepare you to progress through the levels.

For more info DM us. The new program launches November!

NO NEED TO TWITCH A HORSE FOR PROCEDURES. Just train it to stand calmly relaxed in Park.

Overshadowing is incredibly useful. When done correctly, it never fails (so if it does fail, you need lessons!)

It can be used to desensitise a horse to girthing, clipping, mane pulling (yes!), rugging, saddling, spraying, hosing, injections, grooming and other physical contact issues.

See the information in the posts below.

If you pre-train your horse to Stop, Go, Step back, Park, do Head down, and to relax for all procedures (train with Overshadowing), you need never use a twitch.

We owe it to them to train them.

Edit: this has been rescheduled for September 28th 9am-3pm!

As a clinical animal behaviourist, I am trained to work with horses and I have been applying positive reinforcement training to my own horses for the last 4 years. The possibilities with this approach is amazing!

I will be offering a clinic on positive reinforcement for horses on Saturday August 24th 9am-3pm

We will cover:

-what is positive reinforcement and how can it be used for horses

-how to safely and effectively use positive reinforcement

-apply positive reinforcement to teach behaviours on the ground

5 horses max, auditors welcome

DM if you would like to attend

As a clinical animal behaviourist, part of my education and work is to understand the connection between health and behaviour.

The body and behaviour are not separate! We cannot simply train away behaviours that are driven by physical causes.

Pain, skin and gut discomfort are among the physical contributors to many behaviour issues. Animals are more likely to be stressed, anxious, aggressive, and overall sensitive when they are experiencing physical pain and discomfort.

Behaviour modification is never successful in cases where underlying physical issues are not addressed. And sometimes behaviours are the leading symptoms of health issues.

It is so essential to consult with a qualified veterinarian if you are dealing with a behaviour issue in your dog, cat, horse, or any other animal! This is often an integral step in behaviour modification.

Revolution Animals is lucky to have many incredible vets to work with (including our very own ) who appreciate the connection between health and behaviour and support us in the behaviour modification process.

There is always something going on at Revolution Animals!

This week, we will have a webinar on the dog-human relationship and how handling and physical touch are involved in a secure (or insecure!) relationship. The relationship with your dog influences MANY behaviour issues.

Welcome!

I am excited to introduce Revolution Animal Behaviour Consulting and Training. I am a Fear Free Certified Animal Trainer and animal welfare advocate with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta. My education includes advanced study in comparative psychology, animal behaviour, and animal welfare. I have also completed several animal care certificates for a variety of animal species. Currently, I am working on my graduate degree en route to certification as a behaviourist.

In addition to my education, I have contributed to many research projects in animal behaviour and learning as a student and as a research assistant. I have been an invited speaker at the Alberta SPCA animal welfare conference, published articles on pet care in national magazines, and have been president/training director of Alberta Schutzhund Club (a group that practices and promotes positive training in tracking, obedience, and protection) for the last 4 years. I hold several animal organization memberships including the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada, Alberta SPCA, the Animal Behavior Society, and a student member of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour (AVSAB).

My particular interests are in dog reactivity and anxiety, and building a strong foundation for puppies in order to prevent future behaviour problems. I am also interested in parrot and small animal behaviour. In addition to my graduate education, I regularly attend conferences, seminars, and classes with my own dogs to continue improving my teaching skills and methods. I stay up-to-date on the latest animal behaviour science research and apply this knowledge to work with clients. My training strategies emphasize strengthening the human-animal bond and resolving behaviour issues through positive, humane training techniques. I integrate my education and experience to implement effective behaviour modification, and to help others understand their animal’s needs.
