Mammoth’s Big Day at Daycare!

Huge thank you to CK Jordyn for making today possible—Mammoth went to dog daycare! Of course, I had to call In-Sync to check in (worried fur mom over here), and the response made my heart melt: "He's lovely and playing with the other dogs!"

Hearing that just reinforces how much my pack has helped shape him, teaching him what’s acceptable and setting him up for success. I love seeing him grow, gain confidence, and have these amazing experiences. And let’s be honest… I’m hoping for a very tired dog tonight!

Thanks again, Kim!

🎉 Moose’s Embark Results Are In! 🧬🐾

Not Newfoundland related but… dog related. Don’t hate me for posting, but I truly believe knowledge is key. As a retired breeder, I’ve always believed in health testing, even for our beloved companions.

So, I got Moose's DNA results back today, and WOW… his COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) is EXTREMELY high—like, full litter sibling parents kind of high. 🤯 Not shocking, though, since he was born on a farm with no papers, no health testing, nothing.

He's 100% Great Pyrenees, which checks out, but two things popped up:
⚠️ One increased health risk
👀 One notable trait

After reading the risk factor, everything clicked—like why he freaks out when we move furniture. It all makes sense now!

THIS is why Embark testing is so important! Whether you're a breeder or just a pet owner, these tools are right at your fingertips—literally available on Amazon or directly from Embark. There's NO excuse not to do it!

Moose’s potential risk? Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR). If he had it, it would’ve been noticeable as a puppy. I’ve known him since he was 1, and I haven't seen any changes, but I’ll be watching for any signs as he ages and consulting my vet if needed.

🔬 Knowledge is power when it comes to our dogs!

Some Dogs Just Pick You… And Then There’s Mammoth.

You know that feeling when a dog just clicks with you? Sometimes, even through a picture, you just know—like fate lined everything up perfectly.

And then there’s Mammoth.

There’s no denying he was meant to be here, but let’s just say… he took a more determined approach to making it happen.

Check out the video and see for yourself. Some dogs choose you, but Mammoth? Well, he made sure I didn’t have a choice.

"Stop Using the Term 'Pit Bull' – It's Not a Breed!"

The term "Pit Bull" is not a breed but a vague label often applied to dogs with certain physical features. This mislabeling has caused widespread stigma, misinformation, and severe consequences for countless dogs. Even American Bullies, a distinct and recognized breed, are being unfairly lumped into this category, leading to breed-specific legislation (BSL), housing bans, and even euthanasia solely based on appearance—not behavior or temperament.

This misuse of the term "Pit Bull" is also exploited by backyard breeders and irresponsible owners, which only adds to the confusion and damages the reputation of these dogs. It's time to stop using this misleading term and start focusing on responsible ownership, breed education, and treating dogs as individuals.

Accurate language saves lives and helps break the cycle of discrimination. Let’s work together to advocate for fair treatment, end misinformation, and protect these misunderstood dogs!

🐾 Meet the crew! 🐾

Mammoth is almost 7 months old, and he’s growing like a w**d! We can’t believe how much he’s changed. Look at those photos—he's all puppy, but with that gentle giant vibe we love. 💙

Maggie might look dirty, but that’s just all her ticking starting to show. She’s definitely getting more distinguished! 🐕✨

Mowgli is always by our side, no matter where we sit. He insists on being right there with us—this guy is all about his cuddles! 🐾💕

And then there’s our little troublemaker, Piston. A "rescue" in the most unexpected way—he just showed up in our backyard one day at 6 weeks old, and the rest is history. He’s a brat, but we love him just the same. 😹

This crew is all heart, and we’re lucky to have them.

A Newfie Dream Come True

I’ve always wanted a Newfoundland. I’m not entirely sure why—maybe it was the breed’s reputation for kindness, gentleness, and loyalty, or maybe it was just something about their presence that resonated with me. My knowledge about them was limited, but every Newfie I’d ever met left a lasting impression. This year, I finally got the chance to bring one into my life—well, mostly Newfie.

Mammoth, my sweet boy, is about 70% Newfoundland, with a mix of three other breeds making up the rest. He has all those classic Newfie features that I adore, even if he has his quirks—like a fear of people in hats, thanks to a less-than-great experience with a former coworker. But we’re working on it, and even with that, he’s such a “velcro dog,” always glued to my side.

Our biggest challenge with Mammoth has been his crate at night. For months, we struggled with sleepless nights, battling everything from barking to a urinary tract infection. But this weekend, at six months old, I decided to give him a chance outside the crate. I thought, Let’s see what happens.

To my amazement, he was perfect. The first night, he tried hopping on the bed, but I guided him back to the floor (where I knew he’d stay cooler). He stayed there all night—no wandering, no accidents, no barking. It was the first full night of sleep I’ve had since Mammoth came home, and it was glorious!

Last night, we tried it again, and once again, he was flawless. This morning, as he followed me into the bathroom while I got ready for work, I looked at him and said, “I told you I’d love you forever, buddy.” Mowgli, my American Bully, was snoozing on the bed, and I told both of them, “I hope you know how much I mean it.”

Mammoth looked at me in that way only dogs can, and I knew he understood. That’s when I snapped this picture—a moment of connection, trust, and love. He knows. And I’m so grateful to have him in my life.

Forever my Mammoth.

"My girl, my Maggie. The one I dreamed of having. The perfect blend of spice, patience, and love.

The American Bully who passed all her OFA tests, the one who reminds me of Nyx and all the keeper females I’ve had over the years.

She’s the one I chose to spay, ending my 9 years of breeding on my own terms—because I wanted to.

Maggie changed me. She taught me that not every sport I tried was her passion, but she did them for me—because she enjoyed being with me.

She also taught me how, as her owner, I messed up and needed to build her confidence. And we did it—together.

She’s my girl who looks for the cat when he’s in trouble with my partner. She’s independent, not one to cuddle often, but when she does, I treasure every moment.

Maggie doesn’t always get the spotlight, but she’s everything I dreamed of and more. My amazing Bully girl. 🖤"

Our Growing Boy: Mammoth Newfie Cross 🐾💙

It feels like just yesterday we brought Mammoth home, and now here we are, six months later, watching him blossom into an incredible dog. I didn’t even get to enjoy him as a tiny puppy, but I have to remind myself daily that my likely 80-pound baby is still, in fact, a puppy!

Seeing the changes over these months has been nothing short of amazing. From his first hesitant steps into our lives to the confident, goofy, and loving soul he’s becoming, Mammoth is a testament to resilience and love.

Our auction rescue, this Landseer Newfie mix, has had quite the journey, and watching him grow has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Here's to many more milestones with Mammoth Newfie Cross! 🖤🤍

Happy 4th Birthday, Mr. Mowgli!

Today we celebrate my favorite American Bully, Mowgli, who has officially turned four years old! Words can't express how proud I am of this incredible dog. From excelling in barn hunt, helping raise puppies, and being an amazing dad to his own litters, to showing so much love to our cats and not even flinching when our birds fly out of their cages—Mowgli is truly one of a kind.

He's now a blood donor hero, saving lives and showing just how much heart he has. I can’t express how much I love this boy and how grateful I am to have him in my life.

A huge shout-out to his breeder, Cassie Potts, for trusting me with Mowgli and so many other amazing dogs over the years. Mowgli has been nothing but a blessing, and I’ve never once regretted bringing him home.

While it makes me a little emotional that he’s starting to get up there in age, four is still young, and I’m so excited to see what more this incredible dog can achieve. Here’s to many more years of adventures and love, Mr. Mowgli!

🎉🐾💖

Exciting News!

Mammoth and I are officially members of the Newfoundland Club of Canada! I’m so thrilled to embark on this journey, where we’ll learn, grow, and advocate for my Newfoundland cross. Being part of such a dedicated community is an important step in ensuring Mammoth thrives as a happy, well-rounded dog.

Owning different breeds comes with unique responsibilities, and I believe it’s essential to seize every opportunity to support and understand our furry companions better.

On that note, a huge shoutout to my blood donor heroes! Mowgli will be donating again in January, and Silver is set to donate this month. They’re saving lives and showing the world just how amazing Bullys are—on top of being the best companions I could ever ask for.

Here’s to celebrating our dogs and their incredible contributions to the world! 🐾
