Last evening was the last class for our Winter Puppy Classes. I’m proud to say this round of puppies was a joy to watch them grow over the last 6 weeks.

And boy did some of them grow!

They learned all kinds of puppy manners as well as the beginning stages of obedience, therefore they have learned all the basics into making them amazing members of our community.

Take a look at there sweet puppy faces and just try not to say awww. I dare ya!

To my puppy handlers, I am so very proud of each one of you, you worked hard with your puppies, you took what I gave you and you did your homework. You’re pups will continue to grow and there will be ups and downs, remember be patient, take a breath and sit in dog if ya have too 😝

Congratulations
Team Hank, Team Dexter, Team Diesel,Team Tucker, Team Henry, and sweet Team Mia(only girl in the bunch)
(missing is Team Tonka and Team Toby)

The pups also had playtime after class one evening. These large breed puppies along with Nora had some much needed fun getting to burn off some energy. The small breed pups had their playtime in a different area.

Let’s have some fun!
Nora gets BarkBox every month and this is how she loves to open her mail.
But this month they are playing a game of what your dogs name is by using the month they were born and their initial. (In comments)

Here’s Nora’s lol, I think it fits perfectly 🤣

Now isn't that fact that's worth repeating again.

Now isn't that fact that's worth repeating again.

Dogs generally pull about 60 per cent harder on a leash when wearing a padded harness compared with a collar, even when the equipment is marketed as “anti pull” – putting the people walking them at risk of injury.

Some dogs – especially smaller breeds – pull with a force more than twice their body weight on the collar, potentially damaging their throats, says Erin Perry at Southern Illinois University.

“It’s really very shocking,” she says. “The dogs are almost choking themselves on that collar repeatedly. But the harnesses in our study just didn’t inhibit pulling in any way, and that’s definitely a wake-up call – especially because of the risk to owners.”

How cold is too cold?

The temperature at which it becomes too cold for a dog to be outside depends on several factors, including the dog's breed, size, coat type, age, and health. However, some general guidelines for the average dog can help:

1. Above 7°C - Most dogs are generally safe and comfortable being outside without any special precautions.

2. 0°C to 7°C - You should start to pay attention to signs of discomfort, especially for smaller or short-haired dogs. Older dogs or puppies may also be more vulnerable at these temperatures.

3. -6°C to 0°C - At these temperatures, it's important to monitor your dog closely. Consider using a sweater or coat for small or short-haired breeds, and limit outdoor time to prevent cold-related health issues.

4. -15°C to -6°C - These temperatures can be dangerous for most dogs, especially those who are not accustomed to the cold. Limit outdoor exposure, and provide additional protective measures if your dog needs it, like paw protection and clothing, for any necessary outings.

5. Below -15°C - These temperatures are extremely dangerous for most dogs to have extended exposure, and they should be kept indoors with outings limited to brief bathroom breaks.

Always watch for signs of cold distress in dogs, such as shivering, whining, seeking warmth, or reluctance to walk, and bring them indoors if you notice these signs. If in doubt, consult with a veterinarian for advice specific to your dog.
