'Tis the season for a good deshed!
Are you finding clumps of hair tumble weeding throughout your house? Every time you pet your dog you find yourself plucking at those loose, fluffy hairs while watching TV?
Double coated dogs tend to shed in the fall and spring extra due to coat change. The dead hairs get caught up in guard hairs, causing impaction which can lead to matting in the fur.
Unfortunately, shaving double coated dogs leads to many issues such as skin problems and alopecia (like my husband, lol!). It has the potential to lose those guard hairs that help regulate oils, control body temp and protect from the sun.
A really proper, good deshed involves using special shampoo and conditioner, a special hose nozzle, and a few different dematting tools and a really, really good blow dryer.
The cool thing is if you want it done from home, I can do this all from the comfort of your own yard! There is now a section on my form for it as an option. This is only something I can do in the warmer seasons and as long as your dog tolerates it!
