Making some good steps today with Andi! Offering the beginning of tolt! Thanks for the video Mary Coates
✨ Feeling grateful for the journey with Andi! ✨ Even after a training session that didn’t go exactly as planned, we ended on such a positive note. Andi has been showing signs that he wants to lay down, so I decided to train that behavior, and I’m thrilled to share that he’s starting to do it on command! How awesome is that? 🐴💖 Here’s to celebrating the little victories and the progress we make together!

Today’s training session didn’t go as I had hoped, and it’s a strong reminder of just how tolerant our horses truly are. Some days, I find it challenging to resist the urge to “just make” them do what’s on my agenda. But to what end? Would my horse really enjoy coming out to be handled if I forced him to do laps with no end in sight? I doubt it.
What I’ve enjoyed most about learning more about positive reinforcement is seeing how horses begin to choose to work with you. Even on tough days like today, when I have to fight the urge to check things off my to-do list, it has become a more profound journey. It’s about forming a new type of bond—one built on trust and choice. Grateful for these lessons and the opportunity to grow together! 🐴❤️

Here are some highlights from a recent training session with Andi! We're making steady progress as we put the pieces together for riding. Exciting times ahead! 🐴✨ It’s taking some time to navigate the steps while aiming to use R+ we don’t always get it right. But it’s been very eye opening to keep the horses emotional wellbeing at the top of our goal rather than sticking to a traditional timeline or approach.

Exciting things are finally falling into place for Andi! 🎉 It’s been a slow journey with plenty of pauses along the way, but it feels great to be moving forward and assembling the pieces! Here’s to progress and new beginnings! 💪✨
Thanks Ellie for the help!

Feeling so lucky to be training in a T-shirt this November! 💖 Huge thanks to my mom for watching Harlow so I can spend quality time with my horse. I truly appreciate it! Would love to hear your training tips and stories! 🐴✨#icelandichorse #horsetraining #sunshine
That’s a wrap! Frakki and I earned Champion for the extreme cowboy race!
Training on Andi is coming along. We’re now double lining in the arena. The goal is to have a rider on him by the end of the month. I am still using the clicker and treats to reinforce. I’m very pleased with how it is working for him.
Our mission? A refreshing canal ride! Perfect way to keep the horses cool while getting a great workout. ☀️🐴 #SummerRides #CoolingOff #HorseLife
