St. George Animal Shelter Volunteers making a difference to homeless animals in St George, NB. More info here: https://stgeorgeanimalshelter.ca

(and a large part of New Brunswick) through foster homes until we can fundraise enough to build a shelter for them. Since inception we have taken in over 900 animals and adopted out over 770. Currently we are primarily helping cats while we fundraise for a shelter building. The use of volunteer foster homes is how these animals are cared for and we do not have the properly experienced foster homes

to deal with most of the dogs that would be surrendered, although we have helped a small number so far. At this time Covid, has stymied our fundraising efforts and the support we do receive has been going strictly to paying monthly veterinary costs, approx. $8000/mth. We are looking for supporter who can help with the funds to build our shelter.

Coal is the second of three feral rescues who came to the shelter about two months ago. Since then, he’s mostly (sort of) figured out that people aren’t going to harm him – but don’t anticipate a cuddle-bunny: Coal doesn’t really like to be touched, and may never be that kind of cat... although he’s starting to realize chin-scratches are kinda good. Coal is smart, and will spend a lot of time watching. Watching you. And your food. See, Coal is a mooch – there’s no use hiding the truth. Which is to say that he’s pillaged things like tomato slices and olives… probably a result of a rough kittenhood where he and his brothers ate whatever they could find to stay alive. There’s every sign that Coal will grow up to be a savvy, soulful cat. Coal would do best if adopted with his brother, Rebel: the two are quite bonded.
Coal’s favourite time of the day is 8 p.m., since his fosters have started feeding him snacks at that time.... which is how he got introduced to chinscratches. Future parents would be wise to continue that tradition to help him settle in. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines . His adoption fee is $125 but if he is adopted with his brother rebel their fee would be $200 for the both of them.

Meet Rebel. Rebel is one of three feral rescues who came to the shelter scared, tired, and hungry. Since then, he’s made an amazing turnaround into a vibrant, playful adolescent cat. He’s coming to realize that hoomans are useful for bellyrubs and chin scratches (which he absolutely adores.) Rebel occasionally has a relapse and hisses a bit – but it’s a half-hearted attempt when he forgets that he’s safe. Rebel is also still a bit skittish from time to time, but overall, has made great strides and is ready for adoption. He loves playing with his brother, Coal, and while Rebel should be OK on his own, it would be better if the two could be adopted together. He is approximately 6 months old, has been neutered and up to date on all his vaccines.
His adoption fee is $125 and If you would like to adopt his brother Coal with him, the fee for both of them would be $200.

This is Bear.

It’s a bit of a problem obtaining a good picture of Bear, because he’s huge and he’s black. We can’t really understate that Bear is an absolute tank: when he stretches out, there’s a 50 per cent chance he will cross a Time Zone. But for as big as he his, Bear is a gentle giant. He’s quiet, clean, methodical and gentle. Bear likes affection (especially armpit and belly rubs). His purr is like an old diesel farm tractor: it might take a bit to get started, but once it’s going, you’ve got a non-stop rumble (yet his meow is oddly high-pitched and meek). He likes holding down the upper part of couches, sitting on windowsills, holding down beds …that sort of thing. He doesn’t mind other cats (as long as they aren’t too in-his-face). When stressed, he might be a bit hissy, but that’s not his nature. Bear has run into a bit of bad luck. He’s lost his person for the second time in a year, and really needs to find a permanent, loving home. His adoption fee is $ 125, He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. 3 Siblings up for adoption

Raven. black male. Loves to play. Cheese addict. Will be held with a lick treat. Purrs now when held. A little more shy and skittish. Sits by and watches the others being cudddles but I think really wants to be cuddled. Purrs when held.

Mack. Tabby Male. Mack for his mackerel coat. Sweet. Fun. Loves to play. Huge purrs. Can still be a little hand shy. But coming along beautifully. Will be a great kitten.

Birdie. tabby Female, The brave one. Loves to play. Aggressive over the lick it’s. Love to be cuddled and head rubs. Smallest.

The fee for each kitten is $200 and if you're interested, please click the link below and specify which cat you are applying for
