Sasha's family recently lost their refugee claim and had to return to their home country, Romania. While in Canada, they welcomed Sasha into their home and did not want to leave her behind.
We were able to assist her family with the purchase of a travel approved crate and the necessary veterinary examinations and paper work they needed to bring her to Romania.
During this very stressful time for her family, the support we were able to provide because of YOU made all the difference in the world to them. They may not have had the outcome they had hoped for, but at least they were able to maintain their bond with Sasha and she was not left behind!

Dog parks can be helpful if your dog could use some time off-leash to burn off their excess energy, but they also come with all sorts of potential trouble. Dog park etiquette goes a long way to avoid issues! You can also consider choosing less-popular times of day to visit if your pup would do better with fewer distractions.

Know before you go! It’s always best to mind your manners, as communities don’t have to provide space for off-leash dogs.

It would be so much simpler if our dogs could tell us in English when they don't feel well, but if you know what to look for you realise they do tell us, in their own language.

Sweet frosty faced Finn wants you all to know that September is Pet Pain Awareness Month. Sometimes our pets are "masters of disguise" when it comes to hiding their pain. That is why it is so important to continue to have wellness check ups on a regular basis and of coarse if you notice any changes in your pets behaviour such as not able to jump up, go up and down stairs, not as playful, decreased appetite they should be examined sooner than later. There are so many new products on the market that can be so helpful in making your beloved friend feel better and younger. Don't we all want to feel younger?

It can happen quite accidentally, and a significant number of pet owners are actually unaware that their pet is obese! Fortunately, small changes in behaviour can help, such as measuring their food servings more carefully. Talk to your vet if your pet needs a plan to shed some extra pounds. Managing their weight can give you more years together! 

🐶🐱🚑Why does pet weight matter?🚨

Extra pounds on your pet can lead to serious health problems. Here are some reasons why it's important to keep your pet at a healthy weight:

🦴 Arthritis: Overweight pets are more likely to have joint inflammation and pressure, which can cause or worsen arthritis.

💓 Cardiovascular issues: Extra weight puts more stress on the cardiovascular system, increasing your pet’s risk for congestive heart failure and high blood pressure.

🐾 Back problems: Excess weight puts extra pressure on the spinal cord, increasing the risk for slipped spinal disks.

👀 Endocrine disorders: Thyroid or adrenal gland problems can lead to decreased skin and coat quality, changes in appetite, and behavioral changes.

💉 Diabetes: An inadequate amount of glucose is transported to cells with diabetes, affecting the liver, kidneys, eyes, and predisposing pets to systemic infections.

Don't let a few extra pounds harm your furry friend. Keep them healthy with proper exercise and nutrition.
