Our Story

Island Skalliwags was inspired by a puppy..my Tana, a goldendoodle named after one of my favourite musicians, Carlos Santana. Having just retired, she was the perfect way to start my new life . Having a puppy is a full time job and I highly recommend you have a lot of time for them before you get one! Once Tana came to my home, she became my best buddy! We moved to Protection Island, on Vancouver Island and together Tana and I explore the woods, the beaches and the parks revelling in the peace and beauty. I want to keep her healthy and active so I began researching dog nutrition. I didn't want to feed her treats that had additives and chemicals so I started making my own. She loved the treats so much (and it certainly helped me with training lessons) so I thought I'd share these healthy, wholesome, homemade treats with others. Hence Island Skalliwags is born!
