Did a bit of lunging with Kulture last night.

What is lunging?

When you lunge a horse, it moves around you in a circle on the end of a lunge line.

What is lunging used for?

Lunging is a useful exercise for both horse and handler. It is a way to let your horse safely burn off extra energy before you ride and can help with teaching your horse obedience and respect on the ground.

(I am not claiming to be a professional. I am simply demonstrating how I lung my horse with what I have been taught and shown out of experience. I understand that everyone has there own different and unique style when it comes to lunging.)

Last night was a big stepping stone for both of us. Kulture and I had a whole month off, due to something that came up in my life. Which means I wasn’t around Kulture at all and I wasn’t riding either. I will admit that for the past couple months I had trouble getting on Kulture. I’ve always rode broke horses so I had no problem hoping onto them and walking, trotting, and loping. But since I knew that Kulture is only now “green broke” I had a very hard time coming over my fears. I’ve only so far fell off of him once, and he hoped on me a few times. Something I’ve learned as an equestrian is that you can never really control the ride. You will have good days and you will also have bad days where you will come off your horse, but that’s how you grow as a rider. It’s how you gain experience and learn life lessons. You are not a rider if you don’t fall off because trust me every rider has. There is no such thing as a “perfect ride”, and that’s something I had to learn. I am so proud of Kulture as well as myself because we both trusted each other and gave everything we had, and worked as a team. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us!

Please go like and follow this page. I am very good friends with Samantha Osland and she has done some amazing work with all the horses that have came across her path. I have so much respect for this women because of how she treats her horses and because of how she trains. She believes in being gentle but firm, and she’s really good at listening/reading the horses emotions. She is truly a wonderful gal to be around, with such a big heart. I am very grateful for the opportunity I had to help her train some of the horses on this page. She helped me through training Kulture, since he was my first horse I’ve ever owned, and I didn’t know much at the time about horsemanship. In the end my horse turned out fantastic and I learned sooo much from that, as well as learning the correct way to go about treating and breaking in horses. I gained so much knowledge and experience thanks to everything she taught me during the time we worked together.
P.S.
I highly recommend her when it comes to starting horses :)

Kulture 💗

This handsome young boy has come a long way, and has quite a story to him. I bought this guy last year in August. He was 8 years old, and only halter broke. He was not broke and he had no manners what so ever. He was most likely going to go to a meat buyer if nobody went and bought him. He was left in the pasture for 8 years with a bunch of cows. This horse was beyond spoiled. I will admit I never attended to buy a non rideable horse, for I needed a broke horse for a intermediate rider, but when I saw his ad on Kijiji I immediately knew that this was the horse for me. So I took the risk, but I am so glad I did. He took 2 hours to trailer. He was located near Slave Lake, AB. I remember bringing him home in one of the worst thunderstorms I have ever experienced. But we made it out alive. His registered name was “Chet’s Sassy Rascal.” They nailed his name all right 😂. He was the most sassiest horse I’ve ever come across and he was a mischievous little thing. So how did Kulture get his name? I named him that because #1: I love hiphop\rap. I’ve been writing my own music for a little over 2 years now and I’ve started recording and making my own song during that period. I’ve always felt a connection and a place of belonging with rap because I could truly express myself. So yes it’s a big part of my life, just like how horses are. #2: I will admit I’ve always liked Cardi B, so I might of stole her daughters name and named my horse after her 😂🤷‍♀️. But anyway, I think it suits him very well. Kulture when we first started training him, had no respect for me or my trainer Samantha Osland who was helping me train him. He had no problem charging at you, biting you, and trying to mow you over. After months and months of training and putting in a lot of time, money, and effort, Kulture is finally green broke. I’ve almost had this horse for a year now but he’s come such a long way and I’m so proud of him. He still has lots to learn but this horse is so loving and caring towards his rider. He will try his best to keep you safe on his back, and if you come off you can see in his face and in his actions how sorry he is. I had my doubts and ups and downs with him but he taught me love and patience. He still has a long way to go still but he is my baby, and I’m not ever letting go of this horse.

What will this page be about?

My only reason why I wanted to create this page on Facebook is because I want to inspire people to treat all animals, not just horses, but all animals with respect.

This will be a page where I share my experiences and my journey with my best friend by my side.

This will be a page where I will be making people aware of some of the abuse that happens with horses around the world.

I will educate people on horses.

And I will also try my best to stop people from being so afraid of these truly gentle giants.

If you would like to ask me any questions about myself, Kulture or on horses in general feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you for everyone that took the time to read this far. I really appreciate it!

Sincerely,

Chanté.
