A dog like Na-Na, La-La, Doot-Doo is sure to add a bit of musicality to your life, so we thought it’s only fitting that we make a little music video! Here are a few snippets of our play session with Na-Na, La-La, Doot-Doo, the bouncy beautiful American Bulldog mix who’s looking for a new home and a new name (preferably one that’s a bit quicker to say!) If you’d like to adopt Na-Na, La-La, Doot-Doo and save her from this clunky, terrible name, head to toronto.ca/adoptapet to learn more (and see all the other dogs with bad names). TAS Dogs but the names get progressively more unhinged part 2!It’s the return of the Good Dogs, Bad Names! Our dogs all have weird, terrible names and they need YOU to fix it! From now until May 5 the adoption fee of our dogs is just $50, so head to www.toronto.ca/adoptapet (link in bio) to see all the horribly named dogs on offer - then adopt one and give it a name worth calling! Not only will you give a dog a much better name AND a loving home, but you’ll be making space for more animals who need our help! Can’t adopt? Share with a friend! Together we can save these pups from awful names!
TAS shelter dogs, but the names get progressively more unhinged… Someone, somehow renamed all of our dogs! Worst of all they gave them strange, ridiculous and (arguably) pretty bad names. Gone are the Rovers, Spots and Fidos… in their place are “Mothball”, “Danny DeVito” and “Dijon Ketchup”. We don’t want these dogs to be stuck with these weird names, so we’re turning to you for help! Help us get these dogs OUT of our shelters and INTO loving homes ASAP. More important, save them from these awful names! To help-you-help-us-help-them, we’re reducing the adoption fees of all of our dogs to just $50! That includes the spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, licensing and of course, one poorly named dog… all just for $50.00. This special discounted fee starts today until May 5th, so act fast! Give these a dog the home and the name they deserve. Visit www.toronto.ca/adoptapet to see all the Good Dogs with Bad Names!
Did you know that Toronto Animal Services admits over 1500 animals into our care every year?
Last year 1749 animals came into our shelters at TAS, each and every one of them needing care daily during their stay. Almost every animal that comes in our care requires general medical attention in one way or another. Whether it be a spay or neuter, medication, surgery or a wellness evaluation, our dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds need daily care to be happy, healthy, and find loving forever homes.
This important daily care of animals is supported by your donations.
$50 can provide milk replacement, high quality training treats or durable, safe toys.
$100 can provide dog harnesses for training, grooming tools or treat puzzles.
$200 can provide agility equipment, or sessions with animal trainers to help these pets perfect their manners for their new homes
Will you help these animals get the care they need so they can all find their way to families that love them?
To donate, visit www.toronto.ca/helptheanimals
At Toronto Animal Services’ shelters, all of our dogs come to us with very diverse backgrounds. Past experiences, shelter stress, there are so many things that can impact a dog’s behaviour. Some animals come to us ready to jump into the arms of their forever families and some need a little extra care to get them ready to snuggle on a sofa.
That's where our dog training program comes in! We work with dog behavior consultants to determine if training is required before a dog can be adopted. Dogs who require basic training or help socializing with other dogs attend a train and board facility. Well trained, adoptable dogs means shorter shelter stays, happier dogs, and more room for animals who need our help. This year, 562 dogs who were not suitable for adoption were trained, and they all found homes as a result!
This program is funded 100% by donations.
A $50 donation can provide a large quality bag of treats, essential for training
A $100 donation can fund a 30 minute training session
A $200 donation can fund a 1 hour dog group safe play session

The SNYP truck
You may be familiar with our SNYP Truck, our mobile veterinary clinic that provides reduced and waived fee spay/neuter surgeries, vaccination and wellness services to pets across Toronto.
But did you know that our SNYP truck runs entirely on donations?
Our SNYP truck helps over 800 Toronto pet owners each year, with a focus on helping those from low-income households. In 2023, we’ve provided Toronto pets and their owners:
• 984 spay/neuter surgeries
• 130 wellness appointments
• 864 vaccinations
• 993 microchips
Thanks to the SNYP truck, over 1000 animals received the care they needed this year! This is a vital service that we want to continue to bring to communities and we need your help. Every little bit helps.
• $50-$100 can pay for a cat to be spayed or neutered as well as vaccines and microchipping
• $150-$200 can pay for a dog to be spayed or neutered as well as diagnostics like bloodwork or urinalysis
Spay it forward this holiday season with your donation to our SNYP truck! A charitable tax receipt is provided.

It’s guinea pig appreciation day over here at TAS!
We believe strongly in the old adage: "GP ‘R GP"
(AKA… Guinea Pigs 'R Great Pets!)
We have lots of guinea pigs who need a human and a home... and they've got their eyes on you! Some people believe guinea pigs are boring pets and are not as interesting as cats and dogs. We're here to dispel the myths!
MYTH 1: Guinea pigs are inactive pets.
FACT: Not only are guinea pigs active, they can stay active up to 20 hours a day! Unlike many other animals we keep as pets, guinea pigs don't need much sleep. They would rather run, play and explore! Guinea pigs like lots of space to keep them busy, not to mention toys to play with. They're particularly fond of toys they can chew, forage or hide in.
MYTH 2: Guinea pigs are solitary and prefer to be left alone.
FACT: Guinea pigs are social butterflies! Wild guinea pigs live in groups, so they instinctually like to be around others. Domesticated guinea pigs are often kept in pairs or small groups to help keep them happy! When it comes to humans, we may think these tiny guys may be scared of us. However, once a piggy is used to their humans, they don't just tolerate your attention - they love it!
MYTH 3: Guinea pigs don't have personality.
FACT: Every guinea pig is unique! Some are more excitable, others more affectionate. Guinea pigs love to squeak when they're happy, but some are more chatty than others! Like any pet, part of the enjoyment of guinea pig ownership is watching their personality bloom as they grow with you. Guinea pigs have a long life-span compared to other rodent pets, so you have lots of time to learn all about your piggy, and they'll learn all about you!
We hope we have helped explain the ins-and-outs of why "GP 'R GP". So, are you ready to meet the guineas? Then head over to toronto.ca/adoptapet to see all our adoptable piggies!
