Sofi was adopted from the SPCA in Nanaimo in March 2018. She was 5 years old. She can best be described as our healing cat. She was a great comfort for me during 2 knee surgeries and a comfort for my daughter Jennifer and son Lucas and to all who visited who loved cats.
Sofi was so soft, hence her name Sofi. She was the most affectionate and cuddly cat I've ever had and my first female cat. A true love and companion.
Sofi had health issues from adoption and passed away way too soon at the age of 11. A big loss. She will be missed forever. Forever in our hearts. We love you Sofi. Until we meet again.

Baby was 18 years and 13 days old at the time of her passing. She fought through a variety of health problems to make it to her 18th birthday.

Baby was the most loving, intelligent, funny and special cat. She enjoyed going on short walks outside, snuggling in bed, sitting on laps, and bathing in the sun as much as possible.

She is dearly missed by her adoptive parents, who adopted her nearly 6 years ago at age 12.

Dolly, aka Rider, was the bestest girl. Big sister to Sadie, best friend to her cat Callie-coco, and personal shadow to her Mum, me, Susan. She loved her Dad, Lee, and all her family-Ben, Kaytlyn & Kaylee, Samantha &Sean, and Maris, Ann and Andy, Cal &Tammy and Wilson, Sam the cat, Karen and Todd, Shelley and Jim, Norma, really she loved and was loved by so many.The best words I have heard are from my neighbour Peggy-she is with her ancestors chasing rabbits in the happy hunting grounds-and she joins Buddy, Millie and Jackson who went there ahead of her. She had many silly nicknames-Doll, Mrs.D, Ridergirl, D is for delicious!, Laudy, Goldengirl, and our house is so empty without her, but we are grateful she did not suffer more than she already had, and that the hard work of doing daily things is now over and she is at peace. We are so happy to have had her and to have loved her and be loved by her.

Sansa came into our lives Sept 2017. She was the fluffiest most adorable pup. It was only a few short weeks and she was a full grown, beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog. She was a big teddy bear! She loved her three kids and family more than anything. There was no better friend, no better companion.

We were hesitant to get a Bernese Mountain dog due to their short life expectancy of 6-8 years, but we figured as long as we loved her, and gave her the best life possible, it would be worth it in the end. Sadly, Sansa developed aggressive Lymphoma and passed within a few short weeks. She was happy and content right till the moment she slipped away with her family by her side. I miss her everyday, she left paw prints on my heart and we will forever cherish the memories we made.

Forever in our hearts and not far from mind 💕

As the saying goes…”How lucky we were to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”. Our Iggy …a.k.a. Iggmund, Iggbert. This little character was with us since he was one day old, and at passing was 2 months short of turning eighteen, he put up a tremendous fight over the last month. Iggy, I loved you your whole life, I’ll miss you for the rest of mine. ❤️

Andy crossed the rainbow bridge Feb.16/24, 2 months and 1 day before his 15th birthday. He was mommy’s boy and we were inseparable. My grief is so intense, it’s hard to get up and go on without him. The last words I said to him before he left this world were the words I said to him with a hug and a kiss every night at bed time “ I love you Andy, you are my boy” I will love and miss him until the end of my life. Rest in peace my beautiful Andy, until we meet again.on the rainbow bridge.

Malcolm came into my life in 2009 when he was 9 months old. His first family rehomed him because he was "too needy". His needs met mine. Malcolm kept his kitten habits and energy for his whole life. I believe we were the perfect fit and losing him at 14 was far too early. He will always be loved and treasured.

Thought that pet parents may find this interesting.
Being in the aftercare industry it amazes me how many people do not understand risks of burial. We have had to cremate animals that have died because of the drugs they have consumed eating an animal that has been euthanized. Please be aware!

In loving memory of Kass who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 28, 2023, at 16 plus years. Although the first few years of your life were not good years, the 12 years with us were filled with so much love and care. My hiking buddy, my protector, my friend. I pray that you have found Tuxie, who left us in June, and the two of you are running on the beach together again.

Maya was born March 11, 2009 and passed away Nov 19, 2023 (14.8 yrs). She was truly a special girl, who loved everyone she came in contact with and could not get enough attention. She brought so much joy to those around her. We so loved our morning snuggles and those are missed more than words can express. She was not a loud dog, but she was very vocal in letting me know when she needed to go outside, wanted to eat, wanted to be covered up, or if I wasn’t paying enough attention to her. She brought so much love and joy to my life. The loss we feel right now is unbearable.

When it comes to grief, remember this:

You have not broken a bone.
There is no default treatment,
no cure,
no timeline
for your healing.

You cannot strap your heart to the heart next to it
and hope that it mends itself.

You cannot wrap it in a cast
and protect it from further breaking.

You cannot rest it for weeks or months.

You cannot rely on your other heart
like you might a leg or an arm.

You have not broken a bone.

And yet, like a broken bone, your heart will always now have a vulnerable spot. A bruise, a burn, a scar.

And just as your arm can still ache after breaking
when it has been holding too much for too long,
so your heart may ache.

When it has been holding too much.
For too long.

But just as your once-broken arm can still hold things and your once-broken leg can still dance,
so your heart will learn to carry you forward.

Even when it aches.

Our special girl passed away Saturday, August 19,2023 at the age of 17. She was a light in the darkness from the time she found her way to us at only a few weeks old until her passing. She loved everyone (human and furbaby) that she came into contact with. Boots you will be dearly missed and have left a hole in our hearts that no one else can fill. Mom and Dad are heartbroken that you had to leave.
Rest easy our precious girl. Your brother and sister are waiting for you. We will love you and miss you forever. May you be at peace and no longer in pain. Until we meet again my precious Boots. All our love, Mom and Dad.

Our little ray of sunshine has passed away. We are heartbroken, our lives revolved around Jazzy. Our house is empty now. With only sweet memories 💕. How such a little sweet girl impacted our lives is amazing.

On January 28, 2023. we lost our little Sara she came to us as a little four-week-old feral kitten. She became a shy and gentle girl, who gave us lots of love and kisses. We're going to miss Sara with all our heart.❤️💔

On January 19, 2023 my best friend and little girl dog Dulce went to sleep. After experiencing seizures it was determined that Dulce had a brain tumor. At 14 years old, it was time for a heartbreaking decision. It was time to keep my promise to never let her suffer.

Dulce loved people. Her infectious spirit brought smiles to all who met her on the thousands of walks we had together.
Often people who met her would say "She's so sweet, what is her name?" Dulce means sweet. She was one and the same.
She turned "big dog people" easily into the exception to that rule.

Dulce had many people in her life who loved her. She was a lucky girl. She was spoiled by her extended family Keri, Tim, and Zoe on a daily basis spending her afternoons in her second loving home.
As well as many others puppy sitters over the years.

I was blessed to receive unconditional love all these years.
Dulce was beside me through the most difficult times. I truly don't know how I would have survived without her in my life.
I will forever be grateful for "the best little girl dog ever"
Until we meet again my love, you will always be missed.

MEEKA
APRIL 7, 2010—DECEMBER 22, 2022

Meeka was a sweet and intelligent Swiss Cattle Dog [Entlebucher]. She was a fast runner, and loved to explore new territory. She was a diligent sniffer and always memorised the identifying scents of other doggies for future reference. At Descanso, on Gabriola, she routinely explored the private estate she claimed as her own, and she loved a good dip in the waters of the Salish Sea, and a long drink from her favourite spring. She also enjoyed rolling in otter poo, an activity at which she excelled at both Descanso and Drumbeg parks. Meeka was a demanding girl, and she knew her own mind. But she was also sweet and loving; she liked to roll on her back on the floor while receiving gentle belly rubs. She also liked her grub, and was very particular about what she would eat. She did not suffer fools, and she knew a good person when she met one. She was a key part of our family and we shall always miss her terribly

Oli was a beautiful dog, loved and homed in Shawnigan Lake, Cowichan Valley with his loving owner Tim Metherell. Born in Mexico, but moved up to Canada when he was a puppy. He lived on Vancouver Island all his adult life, then passed peacefully with home vet euthanasia. Oli is missed after living 14 years...❤️‍🩹
