Our final Palliative Christmas feature is the one and only Kitty Purry.
At 14.5 years old, Kitty Purry has been in our care for the past year and a half — and she will remain with us for as long as she needs. Her golden years are her time to rest, be cherished, and be comfortable, and we are committed to giving her exactly that.
Kitty Purry has a few challenges, including litter box struggles that would make her easy to overlook in a traditional shelter setting. But we believe deeply that every cat deserves a chance, no matter how complicated their needs may be.
Despite her age, Kitty Purry still enjoys playful moments, long cozy naps, and plenty of conversation. She’s wonderfully chatty, proudly opinionated, and blessed with a purr so loud you can feel it before you hear it. She fills her space with personality, warmth, and quiet joy.

Our next palliative Christmas feature is the beautiful Thalia.
At 17 years old, Thalia is living with stage 4 kidney disease, but you’d never know it from her spirit.

She still seeks out the highest perch on her cat tree, proudly claiming the top spot to watch the world go by. She never turns down Temptations treats, and her favourite moments are quiet ones filled with forehead scratches and gentle love. Thalia reminds us that comfort, routine, and affection mean everything, especially in the golden years.

Rescue is about so much more than adoptions. It’s about showing up for the most vulnerable: the seniors, the sick, the ones who need us most. Cats like Thalia may not have many chapters left, but because of your support, those chapters are filled with warmth, dignity, and care.

This Christmas, we’re shining a light on some of the most special souls in our care: our palliative cats. These are the ones who may not have had a second chance without rescue, but who now get to spend their days surrounded by comfort, love, and dignity.

Milkshake and Calypso are two such souls. These sweet brothers are endlessly affectionate, playful, and devoted to one another. Milkshake is living with stage 4 kidney disease, and while his journey isn’t an easy one, what is certain is that he will never face it alone. We make sure he gets every possible moment with his brother and best friend, Calypso — because love and companionship matter just as much as medicine.

Andy and Kiki are looking for their furrever home(s)! 🥰

Andy and Kiki came into care together. Andy and Kiki are both beautiful, 5-month-old, orange and white cats. They are currently with one of our wonderful fosters.

Andy is shy, but enjoys playing! He is very sweet and gentle. Andy also has very soft fur. He likes springs and bats them around the room. Andy also loves to rub his head on furniture especially table legs and chairs!

Kiki is shy, but enjoys pets! She is a little more social than Andy. Kiki helps Andy feel more comfortable and confident exploring. Her fur is so soft too. Kiki loves to look out the window and spend time out around the room!

Furry Tales requires kittens to be adopted with a sibling/friend, or for there to already be a friendly cat in their furrever home to help their development and give them cat companionship.

Drago is looking for his furrever home! 🥰

Drago is a very handsome, 6-month-old, black cat. He is currently at our cattery in Smiths Falls.

Drago is so fluffy! He is a long-haired cat. Drago is so beautiful and sweet. He doesn’t mind being picked up or being around people. We are still getting to know more about Drago, so check back on his profile on our website to learn more about his purrsonality!

Tommy (5 years old) and his son Timmy (3 years old) have been in our care for a few weeks now after their elderly human went to palliative care. A bit scared and skittish at first, these two gorgeous tabbies have flourished in their foster home.

Their foster mom gushes about both boys:
"Their foster room door is open and they can come and go as they please. It turns out they are quite active between 4 and 6 in the morning. I hear them running around and going up and down the stairs.

Timmy is definitely showing his mischievous side more and more - climbing and getting into things. My husband calls him Timmy Shenanigans. He plays in the water bowl. He tries to dig his way into the foster room closet. He knocks over the laundry basket. He loves springs and will carry one around with him. And he loves to jump up on the window sills to watch for birds.

Tommy is slower to explore the house more broadly, but he seems like a gentle soul that loves to be pet. He enjoys playing with the ball track tower and chasing the laser pointer. He also likes temptations a lot! And he makes great biscuits!

Both love cheek scratches and belly rubs. Their purrs are music to my ears ❤"

Timmy and Tommy are most definitely bonded and need a forever home together. After his shenanigans, Timmy will find Tommy, who cleans him and then they'll nestle in for a nap. (Check out our stories!) As their foster mom says "Cutest. Thing. Ever. 💕" We couldn't agree more!

Once a stray, Katara is now safe, warm, and fully embracing the life she always deserved. This fluffy, 3 year old, black beauty is the mom of the group that was rescued. She has a calm, confident presence and a heart full of love. She’s incredibly sweet and sociable, stepping right out of her crate to ask for all the attention, affection, and treats you can offer.

Katara loves to sprawl across the bed like a queen in her castle, soaking in the comfort. She has the needy, loving temperament of a kitten paired with the mellow energy of a well-worn adult. Add in her constant purrs and her most charming feature—one adorable folded ear—and you’ve got a truly special cat.

You can still fill out the adoption application form now, but we won’t process any adoptions until January.

Why do we close adoptions over the holidays? Pets aren’t gifts. They’re a long-term commitment, not a momentary surprise.

A surprise fades; a pet’s needs don’t.

Giselle is a 14.5-year-old house panther with the most soulful eyes and a presence that quietly fills a room. After losing her beloved owner, Giselle found herself alone and confused, until she was rescued by Furry Tales and welcomed into foster care — where she has been spending her days wrapped in comfort, patience, and love.

Giselle is a palliative girl living with kidney disease, arthritis, and incontinence, but she handles her routine with grace and resilience. She does wonderfully with her litter box and p*e pads in her space, wears diapers calmly when exploring the house, and takes her fluids and monthly Solensia like the absolute champion she is. Despite everything, she still climbs stairs, explores happily, and has a particular fondness for drinking straight from the kitchen sink. She’s learned her routine, accepts help without protest, and truly just wants to feel safe.

Personality-wise, Giselle is pure elegance. Affectionately called “Lady G,” she moves with a dignified little strut and has the gentlest way of being close to you. While she’ll enjoy a lap now and then, she’s happiest curled up on a cozy bed nearby, soaking in your presence. She adores pets, gazes up at you with kindness, and has a way of making you feel completely chosen. She would love to be the queen of a quiet castle — an only cat where she can fully relax and be adored.

Giselle is a very hungry lady with refined tastes — wet food only, preferably poultry, with turkey being her absolute favorite (chunks or shreds, please). She’ll happily eat several meals a day and isn’t shy about reminding you when it’s time.

This is a humanitarian adoption, meaning there is no adoption fee — just the hope of finding a compassionate, prepared home willing to give this beautiful soul the love and care she deserves for however much time she has left. Giselle may have medical needs, but what she gives back is immeasurable: sweetness, devotion, and a quiet kind of love that settles deep in your heart.
