Well, well, well. Look who we have at PetSmart Merivale! It’s Tiny and Timmy…just released from prison and ready to reoffend by stealing your heart! Tony rounds out the three brothers born last August - these kittens are so cute, it’s criminal!

🐾We start with Tony, the absolute love bug! He’s impossible to get a picture of because he always wants attention and affection. If you’re looking for a velcro companion who won’t let you do anything without him, well, this is your boy!

Tony loves everyone and enjoys sleeping on the cat tower in the sun. He appreciates both feline and human interaction and always wants to be with someone. He’s an absolute joy to be around!

🐾Second, we have Tiny. Like his brother, this furbaby is an affectionate attention-seeker who loves to be involved in everything you do. Tiny will follow you around and "help" with whatever task you’re working on. It’s good to keep an eye out as he may weave between your legs as you walk—don’t let his “help” trip you up! He means well. He’s just trying to get your attention so you can snuggle him.

Tiny adores playing with his siblings, being cuddled like a baby, and seeking out every human he can find for a snuggle. Tiny is very calm, affectionate, and quiet. One of the sweetest boys his foster has ever met!

🦁And last, but not least, meet Mr Timmy, AKA the Lion King because of his mane! He’s such a sweet and gentle young man. He loves sleeping under blankets but he often wakes up with a bit of a bad hair day! He’ll come right over for pets and happily purr as you brush him.

Timmy enjoys playing with balls, springs, toy mice, and snuggling up in cozy blankets. This affectionate boy loves being picked up and held, and is friendly with everyone. Timmy’s incredibly gentle and in no rush to go anywhere—he’s perfectly content sitting in your lap.

Yesterday we received a plea to take in a cat who was found outside. It was obviously in distress and without help would freeze to death. We couldn't say no to saving this poor soul!

Kitty was rushed to Tenth Line Animal Hospital and assessed to be extremely dehydrated and malnourished. They couldn't even draw blood! Little one is staying at Tenth Line to be rehydrated and warmed up under medical supervision.

We aren't sure of this sweet cat's fate. It will be an uphill battle, but along with Dr. Patel we have to try and save them.

The cost to admit and care for such a sick cat over the weekend will be high. We are again coming to our community to ask for donations. No amount is too small! Here's how you can donate:

Murphy is ready to meet his match! Could it be you? 🥰

Murphy is a very handsome male tabby and white cat, who is 7 years young. He’s a very sweet boy who enjoys playing. His favourite toys include his flopping fish and squeaky mouse. Murphy also likes to watch laser toys and Cat TV. How adorable!

Murphy is a total sweetheart! He can often be found laying next to his foster asking for head rubs. Murphy also loves body rubs. He greets his foster with meows and asks for affection. Murphy likes to sleep and relax in his crate, but when he’s not chilling out, his favourite spot is on top of his foster’s filing cabinet where he can watch out the window!

Sweet Murphy is a good eater - especially Greenie treats and he’s very motivated by them. Murphy will go inside boxes to eat his treats. He’s very well behaved and could be good with other cats as he has met his foster’s resident cats a few times with no aggression.

Hi, we’re Harley and Phoenix and we’re practically sisters!

I’m Harley, the communication expert, so I’ll be giving you the scoop on us. Let's start with me…I show affection by kissing noses and chirping, and it’s very effective! So my special purrson must have a nose I can kiss. No nose, no goes.

What else am I looking for in a fur-ever family? Someone who likes to show affection as much as I do! A purrson who will pet me, let me sit on their lap, feed me wet food and won’t laugh at me when I try to catch my own tail. (I swear one day I’ll get that darn thing!) I love to be near people, on people, almost smothering people in their sleep… but I’m innocent of all crimes, I swear!

Now, about my ‘sister’, Phoenix. She’s a super confident and curious girl, but she didn’t want to write her TindPurr profile. Funny, because she loves to talk, talk, talk! She really likes to be near people, but she’s not as “in your face” as I’m told I am. (Purrsonally, I don’t think it’s an issue!)

What else? Well, Phoenix is a bit of a phitness phreak - working on her boxing moves (sitting in boxes, that is!) and yoga poses (I think downward cat is her favourite). She’s also “fire”. She’s purrfected her Stop, Flop and Roll! It works every time to get belly rubs. Phoenix laughs at me for chasing my tail, but she’s pretty obsessed with that silly red laser dot, so…. I say we’re equal.

We’re bonded, so we need to find a home together where we can snuggle with each other fur-ever. That means you’ll get twice the lovin’! And not only that, our adoption fees have been donated by an amazing human! How great is that??!

Hi! I’m Silk, and I’m looking for my pawlentine! Could that be you?🥹

Where do I begin? I’ve never used TindPurr before, but sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!

🩷Three things that describe me🩷
Smooth as silk, elegant, and charming. (I promise I’m not boasting—that’s just what my foster mom says about me!!)

🐾My ideal first date?🐾

A fun-filled play session, some friendly wrestling, and, of course, food—any kind will do, I’m not picky! I’m also an expert biscuit maker, and if you’re lucky, I might even share my heated blanket. If things go really well, I might even groom you! Don’t tell my foster mama though 😉. I’m not picky about my companions either—humans, dogs, you name it! I love them all.

🐾Why am I still single?🐾

Honestly, I don’t know. I’ve been waiting over 150 days for my forever home, and I don’t understand why 😔. Even my best friend Denim found his people! My foster family has nothing but good things to say about me, honest! I had a difficult start when I came into care with a nasty upper respiratory infection, but I’m all better now! My eye still gets a little weepy, and I can breathe loudly, but is that really a dealbreaker? Pugs snort and snore, and people love them! I think it just adds to my charm.

🐾My Ideal Home🐾

With you, of course! Anything goes, as long as I have a friendly feline or canine friend to play with! I’m a low maintenance girl, but sometimes you’ll have to help me wipe my tears. They’re happy tears! Make sure to bring some tissues when you come to adopt me, because I might cry out of joy🩷.

Anyways, my foster says that it’s time for dinner, gotta go! BTW—My birthday is at the end of February, hopefully we can celebrate it together!

PetSmart Heron has FTCR kitties again! 🎉

Ravyn and Tilly are at Heron (1600 Heron Rd) now! They are both female, 5-month-old, grey kittens. They are so playful and energetic, but also so sweet and cuddly! 🥰

We have more kitties arriving soon too!

To celebrate, Furry Tales has an adoption event this weekend (February 1-2)! We will have merchandise and other goodies available for purchase. There will also be a wet food raffle. All you have to do, for a chance to win amazing prizes, is bring a can of cat wet food to donate!

Yesterday, Furry Tales took in 15 cats and kittens from Ottawa 🩶 The Fifteen Shades of Grey are in our care as a direct result of what happens when cats aren’t spayed or neutered.

You may think that 15 unspayed and unneutered cats might not be a big deal, but they could’ve easily tripled their numbers in less than a year. In just one year, these 15 cats could potentially have 50 kittens, possibly more! And without being spayed or neutered, those 50 kittens would also add to the overpopulation cycle. 💔

Recently, we've faced unexpected medical expenses that have stretched our resources thin, in addition to our commitments to community spay/neuter and the normal costs related to the cats currently in our care. Bringing in the Fifteen Shades of Grey, all needing to be spayed and neutered, will also pull from our resources.

We need your help to give these cats a chance at a better life, which helps prevent the overpopulation of homeless and feral cats. 💝

Cats available for adoption will be back at PetSmart Heron (1600 Heron Rd, Ottawa) TOMORROW!!! 🎉

Who is heading there? It's Ravyn and Tilly! They were born on 2024-09-03 and came into care with their mom Ione.

Can you tell who is who? Because we can't. They are two peas in a pod. They are textbook kittens! They both love to play with any and all toys. They absolutely go nuts for the laser pointer and are learning how to chase a wand.

Once they are tired out they will walk over to their foster parents for cuddles. They both love to be held and get chin and cheek scratches. For your service, you will be rewarded with big purrs!

Let me introduce you to Mollie, a 2-year-old orange female cat looking for her very particular forever home, by sharing the story of my own cat, Ziggy—a cat who completely transformed how I understand and connect with felines. Ziggy came into my life at four years old, surrendered to a shelter because he didn’t get along with his former owner’s new kitten. When my spouse adopted him, he was anxious, vocal, and incredibly needy, requiring a vet-monitored diet for his weight. He craved constant attention, threw himself at us for love, loved food almost as much, and had endless energy at night. Running, yowling, and scratching at closed doors was our frustrating (for everyone!) nightly routine. We quickly realized he needed more than just affection and regular meals—he needed engagement, structure, and someone willing to understand him. We didn’t know where to start, but with guidance from our veterinarian and plenty of research, we tried new approaches. Nighttime toys became a game-changer, and food puzzles helped tire out his mind before bed (the Outward Hound ones are our faves) I eventually ventured into clicker training, inspired by videos designed for cats and dogs. Ziggy thrived during what we called “Treat Time,” quickly mastering tricks like target stick touches and high fives. In 2022, I added a FluentPet button starter kit to the mix. Teaching Ziggy to press buttons for his needs and wants was a slow but rewarding journey. It took slow steps for him to connect pressing a button to getting what he wanted, but once he did 3 months in, his communication skills took off. Now, in 2025, Ziggy has over 35 buttons. He uses them to confidently request toys, ask for specific people, to be pet, brushed, have his chin scratched, express feelings (happy & grumpy), and even scold me for staying up too late! He’s a more confident, relaxed, and happier cat than ever. And we are happy that he isn’t constantly yowling at us too! The only downside is all
