Our Neuterama and Winnipeg Fido Fix spay/neuter programs have openings for cats and dogs owned by low income City of Winnipeg residents!

Cost is just $20 for cats (including spay or neuter, tattoo, city license, vaccines and deworming) and $45 for dogs (including spay or neuter, tattoo, city license, it’s $25 extra for vaccines and deworming for dogs.)

Cats must be 4 months to 7 years. Dogs must be 6 months to 6 years and under 90lbs. Animals must be healthy and not experiencing serious pre-existing health conditions.

We do have limited resources so our program is funded specifically for low income individuals and families, people on long-term disability support, people on social assistance, those who are currently unemployed and receiving Employment insurance, seniors over 65, individuals experiencing personal or family crisis.

We are funded by the City of Winnipeg for the City of Winnipeg only. Sorry, we cannot fit you in if you live outside the city.

Looking for more info? Call Jessica at 204-914-3287. This is a 1 person, 1 phone line office so you will need to leave a message and your phone call will be returned in the order it was received. Your patience and kindness with the qualification process is appreciated! This is a zero tolerance office for abusive behaviour!

If you don’t like leaving messages, save our number and call us in a couple days as once this post goes up, our phone goes a little crazy busy. There’s no rush, I should be able to help you whenever you do call. (Just remember, the best days to call are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Otherwise our office is closed and on Fridays we host s/n events so don't have anyone to answer the phone.)

Funding for this program is provided by the FixIt Grant, money raised from city pet licensing. Support is provided by Winnipeg Animal Services and the Winnipeg Humane Society

👀 Watch for ticks! 🐶

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month
Lyme disease is transmitted to dogs through a bite of an infected tick. There are many different types of ticks, but the most common to carry lyme disease is the deer tick, also known as the black legged tick. Dogs typically don't start showing signs of having lyme disease for up to 2-5 months! Some symptoms they may experience is lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, fever, and may start limping.
Throughout the month we will focus on the importance of having your pets on a tick preventative and how to prevent Lyme disease from occurring.

Do you have some spare time to help reunite lost dogs?

WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

Winnipeg Lost Dog Alert (WLDA) was formed to help dog owners in Winnipeg and the surrounding areas get their dogs home safely. In the first 4 months of 2023 we posted over 750 dogs that were Missing, Found or Loose.

Without Admins we cannot do this vital work to help YOU get your dog’s home safely. We are already short of Admins and in the summertime we all need a break from covering the page which means that we will be stretched to our limits.

If this page has helped YOUR dog get home, would you consider ‘paying it forward’ by volunteering some of your time to help cover our page?

What makes WLDA different to any other missing dog page? Quite simply the answer is that we have an awesome team of Admins watching the page and doing everything they can to help you get your dogs home safely. Other pages let you post on their page; it relies on you to make sure all the info needed is there (how often are there posts that don’t have pictures or even the location of where the dog went missing?). The other pages rely on YOU watching for comments, sightings etc.

Not only does WLDA do the posts for you, which makes sure we have ALL the information needed when people are watching for your dog, we also watch for comments and messages. We relay important information as soon as we can. We offer advice based on our many years of experience.

Help us to help you. Volunteer with us. The more Admins we have available to cover the page, the less time each one must do.

Email [email protected] for more information.
