We are looking for a forever home for Litchi the corgi in either BC or Ontario. She is 1 years old (will turn 2 in Feb) and spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. We also had bloodwork and X-rays done for her. We rescued her from a puppy mill in Taiwan and she’s currently in Vancouver BC in a foster home but we would be willing to adopt her out to someone who can pick her up in Toronto. She is a sweet little dog and only 15 lbs (small for a corgi!). She loves other dogs and playing with them and we would really like to home her in a home with another dog companion. She is also good with kids, food motivated, and learning how to potty outside. She is also ok with cats. She sleeps in her crate overnight no problems (if you want to continue using the crate). Did you know even non long-dogs can develop IVDD?

Cho Cho was rescued from a shelter in Taiwan as a puppy and adopted there locally. He developed IVDD months after adoption and was returned. He could not walk in March 2023. He has done laser radiation and acupuncture treatments and recovered on April 2023. He’s had no relapse since then.

Hello! I’m Sheldon 💙 and I am still looking for my forever home 🏡

I am available for adoption throughout BC and AB 🇨🇦

I am a 9 year old dachshund-mix, who was originally adopted from a shelter in the USA as a puppy, and then surrendered to Hello Doxie Rescue in May. I am 8kg and have a luxurious long red hair coat. I’m neutered and up to date on all my vaccines. I’m also potty trained.

I am not a fan of kids…so I cannot be homed to a family with kids under the age of 10. Cats and dogs are okay in my new home, as long as my new family is willing to work with me and make the right introductions.

I am currently in Nelson, BC in a board-and-train program with . I needed to go to training because things were getting too much for me and I was unhappy…I had been through 5 foster homes since being surrendered. I am slowly learning boundaries, but I will need my new family to continue to work with me. My new family needs to uphold the training program that sets out for me so that I can continue to thrive and this will be a part of my adoption agreement.

I am looking for a quieter household to live out my senior years 💕 If you are more social and still want to love me, I’d prefer if you just leave me out of social events or at least try to keep the pressure at bay. For example, if you wanted to bring me to a family dinner, please give me my own space and don’t let people pet me. Just like I’m learning boundaries, humans need to learn their boundaries around me as well ❤️

Sheldon’s Rehab Plan

Surgery and Training

Cost: $7000

Surgery has already been done. Thank you to Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital for helping with this. Sheldon had paraphimosis - he was unable to retract his p***s and it was very swollen and irritated. He came into our care with the condition and he was constantly licking at his privates as a self soothing behavior. His p***s was out 24/7. We wanted to make him more comfortable and see if it would help his behaviour so we went forward with surgery while in his last adoptive home.
Unfortunately, he is still anxious…but the good thing is that he has stopped licking in his current foster. He was returned to us recently due to the p***s bleeding on top of his behavioural issues. The paraphimosis issue seems to at least be resolved at this point (for now).

On Sunday, Sheldon will be moving to yet another temporary foster home. He will be undergoing a behavioral assessment while he is there. He's only going to be there for a week until he moves to a board and train program. He will be undergoing another assessment at board and train and fostered by a trainer with experience with the type of behaviours that Sheldon is exhibiting.

This is the last place he will be staying - unless he finds his forever home.

The board and train will also let us know if he is able to be rehabilitated and integrate into a family or if we are doing him a disservice.

We do want to note that he has been to trainers before AND to a board and train as well in his initial home (prior to coming to us). We are trying to figure things out and are doing everything in our capacity to give him a happy life.

The board and train will be his last foster home. At that point he will have been at 6 foster homes in the span of 5 months. It won't be fair to him beyond this point.



Is anyone ever going to step up for this dog? Everyone says “we hope someone steps up and gives him the life he deserves. why isn’t anyone applying?”

Unfortunately, Sheldon is being surrendered back to Hello Doxie.

We are looking for a long term foster for him (could be several months) or an adoptive family.

He has behavioural issues that have been made very clear in previous posts and discussed at length with everyone who has been involved with him. We would like to ensure his new family is COMMITTED to taking this on. This means doing everything it takes to give Sheldon the life and home he deserves. Adopting a dog is not something to take lightly and for many dogs it can take months and even years to fully integrate and feel comfortable in a new life.

We are open to finding help throughout BC for this sweet boy as long as you are able to come to Vancouver to collect him.

Other info: Sheldon had surgery last month for paraphimosis through - this is a condition where his 🍆 was always sticking out and inflamed (chronic and was occurring even prior to him coming into our care but we wanted to make him more comfortable)

Sheldon has resource guarding tendencies towards his people. The behavior is not present when the owner is not around. He will nip if approached and he feels the need to guard.

He also has separation anxiety which has resulted in him barking non-stop when alone (even in the next room by himself) & pushing out his 🍆 (even after the procedure to rectify it) in attempts to self-soothe.

Sheldon’s ideal home is a stable and consistent home with 1-2 adults who can give him lots of attention. He loves cuddling and will be glued to you. The new family should have previous experience with difficult dogs and food and behavioral reactivity. The new family MUST be willing to hire a trainer and this will be a part of the adoption agreement.

I would really benefit from training and behavior classes and so attending classes will be a required part of my adoption agreement. I am not a beginner dog and require a lot of time and patience.

Mico will thrive in a home where she is an only child. She can live with another dog if the adoptive family is willing to do what it takes to adapt to her needs. This may mean keeping the dogs separated when not supervised and overnight.

We are looking for a foster home for sweet Pickles while he finds his forever home.

Foster homes help us assess what a dog needs in their forever home. Often times, when dogs are removed from their surrendering family, they behave a lot differently. Foster homes help to assess this behaviour and provide us with photos, videos, and constant communication of how the dog is doing. This helps us to ensure the dog finds the right new home.

Requirements

💗 a family that works from home or is able to have overlapping schedules so he’s only home alone for 4 hour max

Other information: Pickles underwent IVDD surgery in 2016 and made a full recovery. He is currently going blind and has cherry eye in both eyes (as you can see from the photos). Because of his age, the risk factors for surgery are higher than the benefits of fixing the cherry eye.

Pickles is being surrendered due to not getting along with his human baby brother. We are looking for a home with absolutely NO children as he may try and nip them. Older teenagers are ok. Pickles has become possessive of his owner and developed resource guarding. The behavior is not present when the owner is not around.

He has previously been to doggy daycare (pre-covid 4-5 days a week) and he’s also been boarded by several different people. No one has indicated any signs of him showing aggressive behavior. We are positive that Pickles’ behavior will change once he is removed from the environment he is. This is what usually happens for the dogs we take in.

Pickles’ ideal home is a stable QUIET and consistent home with 1-2 adults who can give him lots of attention and love. He would like to live out the rest of his years in a calm environment where he can nap to his hearts content ❤️

Sheldon is still looking for his forever home 🏡 Will you step up and be this cuddle bug’s new family? 🥹

Sheldon had been doing very well in his foster home. We have not needed to muzzle him at all or hire a trainer as we initially planned. The foster family has taken him to the beach, on lots of walks, and even to play disc golf all within the last week he’s been there. He’s interacted with multiple people, dogs, and strollers without issue. The foster family has said Sheldon is quite well behaved 🫶 He is respectful of their other dog, Stanley, and the two dogs are very sweet and comfortable with each other. He’s been a good traveler in the car and good walking on leash as well.

The only thing we are currently keeping an eye on is his little wiener 🍆 which is quite red and inflamed. We knew this prior to taking him as his surrendering family had let us know he licks at it a lot and it’s become chapped. We will be taking him for a checkup this week 💖

Here is an update from his foster parents:

Sheldon is a sweet, sensitive and gentle dog. He loves cuddles and is very affectionate. He is a great on leash walker and does not exhibit any aggressive behavior.
We have very much enjoyed our time hosting Sheldon and he will make his forever family very happy. He loves other dogs and has fit in very well with our no children household. He has been getting along extremely well with both people and other pups. Sheldon would make a great addition to any family looking for an affectionate dog.

Sheldon is being surrendered due to not getting along with his human siblings. We are looking for a home with absolutely NO children as he may try and nip them. Older teenagers are ok. Sheldon has become possessive of his owner and developed resource guarding. The behavior is not present when the owner is not around. He will also guard the toys and his own food. He will nip if approached. The owners no longer feel like having him around is safe for their family.

Sheldon is muzzled when strangers are over, when out for walks, and also at the vet due to his unpredictable behavior.

Sheldon will eat any food he can get his paws on. Anything unsafe will need to be kept out of his reach.

Sheldon’s behavior may change in a new environment but we are looking for a family who accepts that he will need a LOT of training and reconditioning to be an agreeable dog again.

Sheldon’s ideal home is a stable and consistent home with 1-2 adults who can give him lots of attention and include Sheldon fully into their daily lives. He loves cuddling and will be glued to you. He was a different dog before the addition of kids into his life. The new family should have previous experience with difficult dogs and food and behavioral reactivity. The new family must be willing to hire a trainer and this will be a part of the adoption agreement.

Other details: Queenie is currently in a foster home in Taiwan. She goes to the park and seems to like other dogs. She has shown no signs of food aggression but is not sure how to walk on leash and will freeze in the street. She is a little nervous of the outside world like most of our rescue doggies 🥺
