Happy International Dog Day
Happy National Dog Day! 🐾
Today, we celebrate the unwavering love, companionship, and joy that dogs bring into our lives. These incredible beings teach us so much about loyalty, trust, and unconditional support. Whether it’s their wagging tails, warm cuddles, or playful spirits, dogs have a unique way of touching our hearts and making every day brighter.
But beyond the smiles and the joy, dogs also help us grow. They challenge us to be patient, to communicate better, and to show up for them just as they do for us—wholeheartedly and without hesitation.
To every dog that’s been a loyal friend, a guiding light, or a source of comfort during tough times—thank you for making our lives richer and fuller.
Here’s to celebrating our furry companions not just today, but every day. Let’s continue to cherish, nurture, and learn from them, as they do from us. 🐶❤️

On Friday, June 21st, 2024, I said goodbye to the most lovable and loving friend, Buddy Bolduc.
Buddy was my second working dog, specializing in helping fearful, reactive, and aggressive dogs. He had endless patience, tolerance, and an unwavering trust in me to keep him safe. Buddy and Luna were the best of friends; their bond and mutual protection were truly inspirational.
For the past four years, Buddy lived a retired life with my parents as his arthritis worsened. His severe separation anxiety meant that living with my parents allowed him to never be alone and free from anxiety.
When my dad had a second stroke and needed to be hospitalized, I welcomed my little old man back with open arms. Buddy spent the last two months with me, being the center of the world here on the farm.
Anyone who spent time with Buddy knew instantly that he was sweet-natured, gentle, and loving. He loved deeply and was one of the most affectionate dogs I have ever worked with.
I am deeply grateful for his contributions to the dog training world. Buddy was honoured and loved until his last snore. He was let go here on the farm in the most loving and compassionate way possible.
I am thankful for my family who loved cared for Buddy in his senior years and catered to his needs and enjoyed endless hours with him at his favourite beach each day.
I am overwhelmed with love for Buddy and the grief of missing his snores and hugs. The world was a better place with Buddy in it.

Is your puppy struggling with crate training?
Crate training is a valuable tool for your puppy's development. Here are five tips to ensure a successful and positive crate training experience:
Start Gradually: Introduce the crate slowly, allowing your puppy to explore it at their own pace. Place treats and toys inside to create a positive association with the crate.
Create a Cozy Space: Line the crate with comfortable bedding and ensure it's an appropriate size – not too large to discourage accidents, but spacious enough for them to turn around and lie down comfortably.
Positive Reinforcement: Whenever your puppy willingly enters the crate, reward them with praise and treats. Associate the crate with positive experiences to make it a welcoming space.
Establish Routine: Incorporate the crate into your puppy's daily routine. Use consistent cues like "crate time" to help them understand when it's time to enter. Avoid using the crate as a punishment.
Gradual Alone Time: Once your puppy is comfortable in the crate, start leaving them alone for short periods while you're still at home. This prevents separation anxiety and helps them associate the crate with calmness.
Remember, each puppy is unique, so be patient and adapt the training to their individual needs. Some puppies do better in a puppy pen or an area closed off by a baby gate. With time and positive reinforcement, your puppy will come to view the crate as a secure and comforting space. Take small steps.
