Both my boys are now 16 years old ♡
Trooper turned 16 at the end of February and the CEO of MCM, Dexter, turns 16 today 💕
Watching these two wonderful, tenacious teachers grow and change throughout their lives has been nothing short of a gift.
They inspire and motivate me to do better everyday and I forever will strive to do things differently as a human because of them. ♡
I love you so much my boys 💕

This photo encapsulates the environment I envisioned for my group classes.
After taking a hiatus from teaching for a couple years, I knew I wanted my classes to be different.
I wanted to offer a place of fun, laughter, safety, inclusion, community and learning.
Our final class was this evening and it looks like a bunch of friends hanging out having fun 😊
Nothing is perfect in this photo and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Thank you for allowing me the space to teach again 🙏

Shout out to my one on one doggos!
I'm enjoying these walks and forming bonds with these two!
Phoebe knows my name and the sound of my vehicle pulling up. She watches me from the window and runs down the steps to greet me when I get inside the yard. She loves pattern games and the tree kong.
Django has let me into his world! He likes to play tug and running with me in the soccer field. He likes to take me down alleyway adventures in his neighborhood. He loves hand target games.
I love getting to know these guys and thankful to be sharing their world. ♡♡

💓The CEO and I 💓
I was reminded this past weekend how far my old guy Dex has come.
Dexter LOVED a good romp at the off leash beaches and hiking on the trails with me.
Almost 3 years ago through a series of traumatic events, the places Dexter once loved became places of anguish and anxiety. We adjusted and made Dexter's world smaller and safer for him. Starting off with car rides, small walks around the neighborhood, and then going to the parking lots of the places he use to love just to sit there.
We went at his pace and didn't rush anything. It was hard to accept he didn't want to run in the mountains anymore but it was harder to see him shake uncontrollably with fear.
Little by little, we made progress. Rebuilding trust, safety, and positive associations to the places he once loved so dearly.
Saturday afternoon he made the biggest progress and walked off leash at the dog beach. We made sure to body block rambunctious dogs from approaching him and paid close attention to his body language.
While he didn't run around and play with other dogs, he seemed to be at ease with just walking along side us by the water and that is more than I could have hoped for.
I love you old man 🐕

📣Our Thursday Group is complete again!
June Bug has become more dog selective since covid, which means not too many dogs can enter her circle. I'm happy to say Ripley has intercepted that circle nicely! If there is any female dog capable of winning Juni over, it is Ripley!
Rips is great at reading cues and giving lots of space! She appropriately asks for play and respects her friend if the answer is no. Juni is warming up to the young one ripping past her on the trail and giving her quick kisses before running away again 😆
Mixal is also happy to have someone run around with him again! Juni is getting older, so her running time is shorter and less frequent.👵
After a couple weeks, I can officially say, Welcome to the Thursday group Rippin Ripley! We are so happy to have you! 🥰

🧡Orange Shirt Day. Truth and Reconciliation.🧡
Today is a heavy day for Indigenous People.
I speak for myself when I say today doesn't go by without tears and pain. We celebrate our resiliency as a people because we stand with the strength of our ancestors.
Today is the day to remember what this country has done to Indigenous children. The children who survived and the children who never made it home. We take this time to reflect, to remember, and to honor these children.
Tragedy must be spoken of so it will never happen again. Truth must be spoken of and acknowledged so there can be Reconciliation, and with reconciliation must come action.
If you are an ally please take time to educate yourself and other people, do not look to your Indigenous friends to educate you, for we have carried this for far too long.
To my Indigenous peoples, take care of yourself today. Light medicine, gather together, be in ceremony, and reach out if you need to someone.
You're not alone. You are loved.

•Have you ever heard someone tell you to be more engaging with your dog friend?
••What does that mean???
Does it mean having treats to give out?
Does it mean playing with your dog friend?
Does it mean telling them a story?
Does it mean running training exercises?
••The answer is YES.••
To engage means simply to hold or occupy someone's interest or attention. But the other part of engagement, and in my opinion, what can easily be overlooked is our PARTICIPATION & INVOLVEMENT.
So while we can do things to hold our dogs attention, how different would it be if we become active participants?
To seek enjoyment WITH our dogs and have conversations with them!
Our canine relations understand more than we know and give them credit for!
Holding someone's attention serves a purpose but reciprocating love, joy, and play is much more engaging! 😘
