Remember to bring a water bottle and bowl, preferably one you can leave to share with others if not already one at the park you frequent. Many of the pop up dog parks I went to last year were lacking on that one thing.

🐶 Paw-sitive news for pups! Pop-up dog parks are back this summer and will be open from the first week of April until the end of October.

🐾 Located at Hyacinth, Lambrick and Rudd Park, each dog park is fully fenced and equipped with dog water bowls and benches.

Lambrick Park has two enclosures – one for big pups and one for smaller ones.

Please remember that fenced baseball diamonds are off-limits to dogs March 1 through October 31.

Yes dog teach us to live in the now but they also teach us how to communicate in none verbal ways.

As a human we are raised to communicate with words, encapsulating meaning to a specific set of syllables. Intuitively as children we understand the tone of our caregivers and overtime learn to recognize the meaning behind the syllables. With more time we learn to disregard our intuition extracting more meaning from the series syllables, paying less attention to unspoken communications.

But our furry friends never stop listening to the unspoken. They read our body language, tone, energy, and even our breathing patterns. They remind us that true communication goes beyond words showing us it’s about presence, consistency, and emotional honesty.

By paying closer attention to how we move, the way we carry tension, and the energy we bring into a space, we can become better partners to our dogs and, in turn, better communicators in every aspect of life.

So, next time you’re with your furry friend, try saying less and feeling more. You might be surprised by what you learn.

Have you ever sung to your dog? I have, you should try it.

I may not know the right words, will most likely be out of tune and can’t play an instrument BUT I can hold a rhythm and when I sing your dogs love it.

There is something magical that happens when we sing to our furry friends. Most will not know how to respond at first but they all respond. Some sing along, some try get involved, some zoom around, some pretend not to notice while some seem to revel in the attention. No matter what their reaction is the first few times they have all grown to understand when I sing I want their attention and love is inbound.

So… if you ever catch me singing to the dogs please don’t interrupt or stop to watch, it’s not for you 😘

‘Cause You Got a Chubby Bum (AKA Jerry’s Song)

‘Cause you got a chubby bum,
Yeah, you waddle when you run,
When the treats come out, you’re the first one there,
Beggin’ with those eyes like it’s life or death—
Oh, you got a chubby bum, yes, you do!

You got fur so soft, belly round and sweet,
When you flop right down, you take up half my seat!
But I wouldn’t trade you, not for the world,
You’re my little loaf, my fluffy pearl!

‘Cause you got a chubby bum,
And I love it, yes, I do!
When you wiggle, when you zoom,
Even when you steal my food—
Oh, you got a chubby bum, and I love you!

Some dogs are lean, some dogs are spry,
But you’re built like a cloud that learned how to sigh,
And that’s just fine, you’re perfect to me,
Even if you snore like a grizzly in your sleep!

Yeah, you got a chubby bum,
And it’s the cutest one I’ve seen,
So keep on waddlin’, my little bean,
You’re my best friend, my snuggle machine!

Rest In Peace Jerry

Dogs naturally fall into place within their pack by reading each other’s energy, body language, and overall vibe. When Cali first met her new furry friends, she learned from their calm behavior that she was safe and could relax, which empowered her to ignore other passing pups. This is the magic of a balanced pack—once everyone finds their groove, even our little white barkers settle down and embrace their part in the group hierarchy, ultimately creating a chill, respectful environment for all.

🐾 Wisdom Wednesday: Understanding Your Dog’s Pulling Power 🐾

Hey pet parents! Ever wondered just how strong your furry friend is when they pull on the leash? Let’s dive into the fascinating world of dog pulling power and how it compares to our own strength!

Dog Weight and Pulling Power
Dogs are surprisingly strong for their size. Here’s a quick look at the pulling power of dogs based on their weight:
• Small Dogs (20-30 lbs): These little pups can pull with a force of 40-60 lbs.
• Medium Dogs (30-50 lbs): Expect a pulling force of around 60-100 lbs.
• Large Dogs (50-80 lbs): These hefty friends can pull with a force of 100-160 lbs.
• Extra Large Dogs (80+ lbs): Giant breeds can exert a pulling force of 160+ lbs, sometimes reaching up to 200 lbs!

Human Weight and Pulling Resistance
Now, let’s see how this compares to us humans. The average adult can resist a pulling force from a standing position based on their weight and strength:
• Light Adults (100-150 lbs): Can typically withstand a pulling force of around 60-100 lbs.
• Average Adults (150-200 lbs): Can resist a pulling force of about 100-150 lbs.
• Heavier Adults (200+ lbs): May be able to withstand a pulling force of 150-200 lbs or more, depending on their strength and stance.

The Big Picture
When a large or extra-large dog pulls with all their might, they can easily overpower an average human. This is why leash training is so important to ensure safe and enjoyable walks for both you and your dog.

Tips to Manage Pulling
1. Leash Training: Teach your dog to walk politely on a leash with consistent training and positive reinforcement.
2. Use the Right Equipment: Consider using a no-pull harness to reduce pulling without harming your dog.
3. Stay Balanced: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and bend your knees slightly to improve your balance and stability.
4. Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog for walking by your side with treats and praise.

Understanding the pulling power of your dog compared to your own strength can help you take proactive steps to manage their behavior and ensure safe, enjoyable walks.

Stay safe and happy walking! 🐶🚶‍♂️
