Every season this LEAVES me perplexed...
?
Why when mother nature LEAVES us so many beautiful gifts on the ground, do I see fake leaves in shop windows.
I'm so much more drawn to the real deal....
Just an observation as I wander the windows...still!

Dreamy desert days and dreamier desert nights. Here!! How long can this last...? Smart retailers stay consistent with visual effort in their window display. I realize the retail landscape has changed forever - however if you still have a storefront, heck use it to your advantage. I have seen many merchants that continue to visually message (hello chalk boards), and create some really unique vignettes, in keeping with our new norm. I have repeated, many times (broken record), a window can always WORK for us, like staff! Hello sweet Folk Apparel shop up on Fort Street, bet your cactus likes this temp!

Cook Street bright'n bloom'in. Things are sunny along upper Cook in North Park. The window at Cook Street and Bay Street Castle is look'in fine and makes an impact. How cheerful. Way to shine, (again), Castle folks!

hello sweet window vignette. Feels like an inside-outside 'welcome mat'. One more reason to stroll Cook St Village this weekend. We seem to be slowly but surely out'n about. Responsibly. Visit the welcoming Village folk that make this village cook! Window shop, shop, sip, snack, or 😉 on your S T A Y C A T I O N - right?!

My rainy day window pals make me smile. A piggy and a peony. I was given the ceramic piggy by a friend and this stunner peony I was gifted the other day, while up at B.C. Government House. Thank you Donalda. FYI - they sell 2 sizes of bouquets - (out back near the tea room). Also, plant sales, just in case you were unaware. AND the multi-colored iris, in stunning full bloom. There is a mass of them on the path close by. Just reminding, in case you need a little beauty in your days - amidst the backdrop of so much chaos.

Inspired by those wonderful evenings after dinner when you walk back to your car and window shop. I am a sucker for dog pillows and in this case there was one in the window in a leather chair. I almost went back the next day to buy it, but I contained myself. Proud moment for me. 🙂

WRAPPING up the week. Does anyone else consider the day of the week right now? 🙃 Took a pup stroll way up Fort Street. Went as far as the junction, sorta. The junction of good things that leads to more. The window of Pocket Clothing is always random + lively. Full of eclectic goods, + bohemian clothing. It makes a statement + creates a spirit about who they are - which is the whole point. Love shops still giving us the eye candy while we are out'n about. It feels hopeful.

Is it me, or is there a new found curiosity walking your neighbourhood? I am that much more 'feeling' my settings. Seeing simply. Seeing differently. Walking streets alone, offer me many benefits. Beauty and balance just the beginning. Fairfield: Vancouver Street near Southgate I think it was. 😉

WINDOW SHOP. Or is it shop window? Ponder that right now. I have a slew of unused slogans that float in my head all the time. That being one. Is it me, or are many retailers and merchants jumping on board with using their windows with more INTENTION + PURPOSE. Windows with jobs - well YAAH. Here we have a Cook Street Village shop with a super inviting window. Imagine sitting in that dreamy window seat. I'm a sucker for linen pillows. Spring pastel colors. This window at Surroundings is doing an excellent job right now. The subtle hint of feathering our nests! Others in the village like Kay's Korner are carefully curating fab merchandise in the storefront for you to browse, (call them for purchase/pick ups etc). We are all taking fresh air breaks, those that can. Getting out of our heads. Maybe add something fresh to your love-nests - do what we can in support of small businesses everywhere. 💜☮️

Open your window today. This peaceful, open window image caught my eyes. The feminine and gauzy curtains. Maybe the wee birdie. The short passage written by Helen Keller. Hard to put our roller coaster of emotions in perspective. We are trying. I see just HOW hard we are trying and feel comfort somehow. I also feel comfort in all the many ways we are helping one another. I feel significant unity from our kind actions, (and thank YOU), all while being in a time of solitary and quiet. Not isolation! I'm glad to see the sun out right now, and to breath clean Victoria sea air. Maybe enjoy tea or coffee by an open window...Breathe. Enjoy whatever your simplest pleasure is today. ☮️

Life is a little intense these days. Hardly business as usual. However, this brand new business will be ripp'in off the brown paper and throwing open it's front door soon, pretty sure. Bear & Joey is a new cafe/coffee shop and brand. It's going to be top-drawer. Plus love the fun logo. Corner of Fort/Cook at the Black & White. Lil thinks she has a bit of joey in her 😉

E L E C T R I C W I N D O W out on the town. Just last night. Blizzarding and all. Lucky to live walking distance to the Royal Theatre. This performance of 'Half Moon Run' could be called my January wake-up call - to all of my senses. LIVE was phenomenal. This beauty of a photograph (not mine) - with thanks to a photograph genius. HUG BEHIND A WINDOW! Merry Monday. I was not anticipating a Christmas window project. This one at Mercedes Lane Too snuck in nicely. There is a front (vignettte) to this, but I love the feminine pink coats - lined up giving structure. I kept this simple - in the chaos of the season. Now I'm dreaming of a warm fuzzy hug of a Christmas. Works for me!

SEASONAL FRESH GREENS! Kicking off this month. I cannot think of a fresher and more authentic way to embellish a seasonal storefront. I was strolling Oak Bay Avenue the other evening and was spellbound. House of Savoy Consignment, this is a true stunner. Thank you for adding true BEAUTY to our streetscape this season.
