Sammy — has lived at APR for 4.5 years of her 5 years, 8 months of life. It’s heartbreaking because she is a truly good, stable, people-oriented dog who just hasn’t found her match in Florida.

Smiling Sammy! A 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur / Boxer mix with a sweet, people-oriented nature. She’s tuned into human energy — calm environments bring out her relaxed, gentle side, while playtime brings out her happy zoomies. She enjoys daily walks, short play bursts, and then settling in close to her people. She’s smart, trained, and thrives when humans set a calm, confident tone. She is affectionate, steady, and very ready to belong.

Sammy was an outstanding foster — emotionally stable, easy in the house, and very affectionate. She does not present well in the shelter environment, which is likely why she’s been overlooked for so long.

Looking back on where we started, we are overwhelmed by the support everyone has shown us.
As we prepare to say a bittersweet goodbye to our home of 15 years, we are pouring all that love into creating an amazing new space for you (and the new friends we haven't met yet!)

💥 UPDATE 💥

The city of Langford heard us and is taking action of this oversight in bylaw 300 and getting it amended! Thank you Langford and all the people who got involved, listened to my case and got my insanley large passionate emails to where they needed to go.
Words can not express how much gratitude we have for everyone who got involved and help get this ball rolling for this furry change! This will make such a difference for any dog groomer wanting to have a storefront in Langford 🐾
To everyone who shared this post, wrote us emails, gave me advice, lifted us up.... you are held so deeply in our heart... your not just clients.... your true friends. Thank you 🙏

My ​Fellow Furry Groomers, Small Business Owners, Animal Lovers, Pet Pros •~ I need your help!

​After 20+ years in business in Colwood, we are having to relocate our storefront shop, as many of you know. We have found numerous purrrrfect locations, that happened to be all in Langford, but the City of Langford has delivered a shocking decision.

​The Problem:
Grooming is NOT a "Primary Business" in Langford.

We fall under one tiny little zone C1 where we can operate a storefront for dog grooming.

​Langford currently views professional dog grooming not as a stand-alone Pet Service, but as an accessory service (like a side job) that belongs in a home or as a feature of a daycare/pet store.
​This means a dedicated, professional grooming shop does not get the same commercial zoning as a Vet Clinic, Daycare, or Pet Store.

​This decision devalues our essential profession and severely limits where we can operate. We need to prove that professional grooming deserves to be recognized as a primary commercial service.

​If you have:

•~ ​Faced zoning challenges opening a shop in Langford.

•~ ​Believe professional grooming deserves equal zoning to other pet services.

​I am collecting testimonials and stories to present a unified case to the city. Your voice is crucial to changing this unfair precedent!
