FAMILY FRIDAY!

We have our puppies gently handled by our young family and friends to give the puppies exposure to children. Integration into the family unit is critical.

WARRIOR WEDNESDAY! Exposures.

We put significant effort into our puppies exposures to prepare them for their future working positions. As an example, search and rescue teams are sometimes required to airlift their K9 for their search. We’re always mindful of the safety and health when rearing our puppies.

How many breeds can you count? 🤣

We might be just a bit biased toward the German Shepherd Dog breed but certainly appreciate and enjoy all the unique characteristics of other breeds. We have worked and owned many breeds of dogs over our 40+ years of experience.

WARRIOR WEDNESDAY! We work with intention.

Placing a muzzle on a puppy or adult dog is an important hassle-free skill they must learn. This takes a few fun training methods we use when training our puppies and adult dogs. This makes putting on the muzzle much easier for the handler without a struggle.

Exposing a puppy to a fireman carry serves many purposes, aside from being cute. Police or military may need to carry their injured working K9 out of a distant location. Also applicable to any handler who may need to carry their own dog out of a sticky situation. Trying to teach an adult dog to learn comfort with this has the added difficulty of an adult dog’s size and weight.

FAMILY FRIDAY. Rheya enjoying bonding with her family.

We can’t emphasize enough how much we value a balanced and stable mind in our dogs. These traits are essential in a strong dog capable of working roles including personal/family protection, police and military K9s, search and rescue, and services dogs (just to name a few). The bonds formed between our dogs and their families/handlers are very important for enabling the dogs to thrive in their roles.

TRAINING THURSDAY! Chairlift ride 🤙🎿.

Here is one of our puppies grown and in training as an avalanche search and rescue dog with his extremely experienced handler.

They have to do a lot of interesting training together, some of which they come and share with us! We appreciate and enjoy learning from others!

TAKEDOWN TUESDAY!

Once upon a time it was the night before Christmas and Vader was ready … for the naughty list!

Vader was an amazing Canczech Dog with foundational puppy training before going to a USA police department where he was an absolute star. He received a number of high achievement awards for his work on duty, some of which are displayed on our website. He was also used as a stud given his excellent traits.

Vader has since passed but had an amazing career and retirement with his handler and family!

TAKEDOWN TUESDAY! Ladders … and the bush. There aren’t many places a decoy can successfully hide once our K9 missiles are deployed. This video shows two of our previous dogs. TRAINING THURSDAY! Biking dog backpack. Perhaps not the most practical way to get around with your dog, but it’s amazing to see what a dog will do for you with the right training. A simple exercise like this actually takes inherent confidence in the dog, solid trust, and eagerness to work. Tony has trained more than one dog to do this 😆. MOVIE MONDAY! .. actually it’s a video game. This was a really cool project we worked on. The developers of the video game Arashi: Castles of Sin needed a real dog to complete numerous movements and tasks for their virtual reality (VR) dog in the game. Our Canczech Dog had to get suited up in spandex and tiny white balls (known as a mocap suit). Tony then worked him through a series of movements and tasks ultimately allowing production to record the mechanics through the suit. SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY! Our breeding guru Katie Nikl and Islay z Canczech. Islay’s belly is certainly growing - she worked well today ☺️ (she may have had a little fun with bite work after this). Katie has been leading Canczech Dogs’ breeding program for the past 40+ years with intelligence and heart. She puts a great deal of effort in the selection of her dam (female) and sire (male) pairings. Reviewing the genetic lineage for each, temperament assessment, and health testing are all extremely important parts of her methods. She has well-established parameters that the dam lives by while pregnant to ensure optimal health and puppy development.
