Introducing Lily, a gracious and lovely old coonhound cross, who is looking for a new home. She is located in Victoria.
Lily is eleven years old (August 2012), a trim 80 pounds, in remarkably good health, and with the happiest nature you’ll find.
From the age of 4 months until last fall, Lily lived with a disabled woman who loved her dearly, but had to part with her because of a housing problem. Lily has never
known an unkindness, and it shows in her temperament.
She has lived with two large dogs and a cat, with no problem, not sure about small dogs. She is used to family life and loves swimming.
Lily was adopted last November 2023, by an older woman with some health issues. She had recently lost her beloved collie, and just wanted a quiet older dog to
share her rural property, nice fenced orchard, the chickens.
But as it turned out, Lily was not the ancient old dog everyone thought: she’s boisterous, funny, playful, and very strong, way too much to handle for the present owner, especially on a leash.
So re-homing was again in the picture. But first, Lily required surgery (removal of two large lipomas - fatty tissue), blood work etc., plus rabies shots, microchipping. Arthritis on a front paw doesn’t bother her, though meds might be needed later. For now, she’s good to go.
Lily does bring her DNA with her. She’s a formidable scent hound. Introduced to the chickens, she showed no interest in the birds, but sniffed out every inch of the coop for rats.
She sleeps a lot – apparently always has – but in between naps, she’s out the dog door to check on varmints. Sleeps quietly all night (dog door shut). And loves being brushed.
Lily is not a barker, but she has a serious hound-dog bay when needed. Good watchdog. She likes being near her person, and she loves her person’s friends. Hooray, a visitor! And she may toss a toy into the air. She likes men and women equally, but is too bouncy for small children.
