Let’s meet the breeds! Did you know the chihuahua is the smallest registered breed, weighing on average of 2-6lbs. They are described as a compact square dog that comes in two coat varieties the smooth/ short coat and a long coat. There is some debate on the origins of the breed some believe they originally came to Mexico from China or Europe as ratters on the boats although the accuracy of this is unknown. The chihuahua’s temperament is to be a confident, assertive terrier like dog. They make great companions and can adapt to many different home styles including apartments

It’s so hard to believe since there is no white stuff on the ground to stay yet and it’s still fairly warm! BUT Christmas is a short 5 WEEKS away! So if you are thinking about a Christmas groom for your pup it’s best to book your spot now so you aren’t disappointed as spots are already filling up fast and once they are gone they’re gone!

The weather is getting colder especially now that it’s officially fall and the autumn equinox has happened shedding on double coated breeds should be in full force! Remember regular grooming schedules help keep shedding to a minimum. It’s super import to keep your pup on a routine grooming schedule especially as they age like Bentley! Regular grooming appointments of 6-8 weeks can help you notice potential health concerns that may pop up that you won’t necessarily notice seeing your pup everyday so don’t delay set up a grooming schedule with your groomer today! Did you know a properly maintained coat helps keep your dog warm and in some cases dry in cold rainy weather like we have today. Matting inhibits the proper functioning of a dogs coat and become tight to the skin even pulling skin in in some cases it can even cut off circulation and amputate ears and toes! Did you know the idea that dogs shed twice a year is based on the spring and fall equinoxes, and wild canids ( think wolves coyotes and foxes) preparing their coat for warmer or colder weather! Domestic dogs follow this schedule too but indoor climate control disrupts this natural process causing domestic dogs to shed cyclical through the year. A regular 6 -8 week grooming schedule helps keep this to a minimum so when you get your dog on a regular 6 or 8 week schedule as a thank you the 8th grooming is free!
