2018 Gypsy X
We have a very cool 6 yo š¹ available! Gypsy/Paint X. Around 14.3/15hh. Sound, but needs an experienced hand. He has bucked a few times with rider. And he sometimes bucks when you lunge him after you do up cinch. Owner wants a steady eddy and heās just not that guy! He has been ridden inside and outside with me, heās smooth to ride and I believe just needs a job.$6500. Located Wapella SK.
Little tip for starting out a ride.
Do you know if your horse is in Fight/Flight or Thinking mode when you go to get on? Hereās a good way to check that out.

This is a SUPER fun mare that the owner reached out and asked me to help with! She had her working a pattern, she just wanted some finesse! Owner put in a TON of hard work getting this mare so nicely broke, she gets all the credit!! This is the same mare 40 days in with me.
Again, the credit goes to the owner for putting in time, and hard work!! I just got to finesse!
Thank you for trusting my program.
Hey folks! So this is a drill I use on any level of riding horse when I first get on.
Steps are as follows;
1. Inside leg and inside rein pushing horse up and around my leg, not pivoting, not bracing, sometimes I may have to use both legs to start encouraging forward motion, then try just using my inside, then both again, eventually you can use just inside.
2. Sit back in my saddle and go to my horn with outside hand, keeping forward motion, they may want to stop or pivot.
3. When I feel softness in ribs and face, I take pressure off, and sit slightly to my outside stirrup (which I didnāt outline on my video), while gently pulling my inside rein to 1/2,3/4 up thigh. I hold until they get soft in the face, then I release. I let them sit for 5-10 seconds *remembering horses best learn on the release*
This drill will immediately tell me where/if a horse is stiff, and the more it is practiced, the softer my horses get.
Tip; if youāre really struggling, try putting a pylon, barrel, tire and make your horse move up & around it, not stopping and turning in, not pivoting, around the circle with your inside leg and rein, this will be easier said than done the first few times!
7 yo Warmblood mare, has bucked prior.
Here is a 7 year old Warmblood mare, standing over 17hh!
This was our first ride, and as you can see, we only walked around.
Now, most people will say, you shouldāve added the speed and got that out of the way.. but, she wasnāt ready for it.
This mare is sensitive, she lacks confidence, and she panics, and then she bucked at prior trainers.
I read every horse as an individual, and Iāve done the groundwork I needed to get on her, but she was not ready for any speed past a walk, she needs confidence and reassurance in every aspect.
So what we gained in this short walk around was this.
-Confidence with a rider on
-Forward motion with a rider giving pressure
-Turning with forward motion
-Overall confidence in the rider and herself
So that to me was a win, and you may not agree with it, BUT, itās my job to read every single horse I get on, and why would I put her into panic mode when she is naturally panicked, I want the ride to be fun and respectful to the rider, I want her confident and relaxed and the speed will come for her!

Check out this video & please bear with me as I struggle upwards putting out public videos and talking to a camera!
If a horse challenges you, it will make you a better rider, a stronger rider.

Cece
Trained by myself (Julie) on barrels and ran/futuritied as a 5 yo to win MBRA open finals at only 5. All the blood, sweat and tears put into this mare, made her into this, running at Houston Rodeo, sitting second in the round. I can remember this mare being a serious handful, a tough horse, a mentally challenging horse.
Iāve had many moments where Iāve doubted my abilities, I look back to 2019, and how much more I understand now, and in 5 years how much more I will know and understand then!
Keep pushing for your dreams/goals! There will be hard times, people who donāt believe in you, people who dislike you and people who point blank say you canāt train. Truthfully, these are feelings I go through every day, we are not immune to them, but keep fighting, train those dragons, and put in your hard work and saddle time and good things will happen!
