This is a typical isopod bin set up here at BUGZ BY BULL. Perfectly accommodates pretty much any kind of isopod kept in the hobby. It consists of a layer (approximately 2 inches deep) of a suitable substrate, we use our own mix of organic, locally souced products. After the substrate, a nice pile of sphagnum moss at one end that serves as a hydration station. Spanning the middle section we have some cork bark, hardwood bark and decaying wood. At the far end we have a big pile of mixed leaves for them to munch on.

4 new types of isopods today. Armadillidium peraccae (available for sale), Armadillidium maculatum "Zebra", Nesodillo archangeli "Shiro Utsuri" and Reductoniscus tuberculatus "Borneo Alligator"!! We are now have 32 types/ morphs of isopods. Steadily growing.

Some new shelving and Isopod tubs!! Added 2 tiers to the fruitfly shelf and a full 4 tier shelf with an extra tier added for the Isopods. All the 6 quart tubs with the purple lids are all new, a nice little upgrade from the tubs I was using. The new tubs allow me to provide a proper moisture gradient due to the longer footprint. Sorted out all Isopods, springtails and fruitflies according to type(put my OCD at ease). Things are starting to look pretty good around here.

And some more new isopods!! Happy birthday to me. Yes, that's right, my birthday present is more bugs, lol. Got some Porcellio dilatatus Giant Canyons, Porcellio laevis Orange and Porcellio expansus Orange from our friend, Steve, over at 520buce . Some more really nice additions to our collection over here. We are now up to 25 types of isopods!!!

Not only do we make our own fruitfly media, we also make our own isopod soil mix too. Simple. Cheaper than commercially available products. Plus, the DIY media doesn't smell nearly as sour as the Repashy. Bonus!!
