STORY UPDATE:
DARAE HAS BEEN CAUGHT BY PETSEARCHERS AFTER BEING ONE MONTH ON THE LOOSE!

Sorry for the late posting of our update on Darae. Both Parker and I want to express our deepest appreciation for all the kind words and support from so many of our friends and the public that were concerned for the safety of our little friend Darae.
Seems like this search has been going on for months but, we have been on the search for 3 weeks. Nonetheless, we have been in multiple areas of Maple Ridge searching for Darae from day to night. She would not stay in the same area for too long unfortunately which made capturing her more complicated. Her last area where we trapped her was near the Casino on 227th and Lougheed. Darae only showed up in this area at certain times of the day, mostly late in the evening or early hours when there was little traffic around. A fair number of sightings came in of her whereabouts however in seconds she would disappear into back alleys or the multiple ravines in the area. In these cases, we planned to have her come to us instead of us trying to follow her.
In the end, our heavy cellular camera surveillance and multiple live traps were significant factors in bringing her to safety. Parker was monitoring the area during daytime hours, and I primarily did the evening hours. On the second last day of our search, my daughter London and I saw Darae come into our trap area. Darae veered off before she got to the traps but now we just needed to fine-tune our trap placement for the next night. I left a feeding station for her to ensure that she knew to come back for more, and she didn’t let us down. I was parked at the top of the parking lot watching the traps as well our cameras were monitoring the traps when she appeared. It didn’t take too long before she was in our trap enjoying a roast chicken dinner when she tripped the laser and the door closed capturing her safely. She was initially frightened when I showed up at the trap but she instantly knew that she was not in danger and that I was there to help her. I always tell people the dogs we trap sense right away we are there to help. Kisses and licks at this point are the norms after a few seconds of talking to these lost pups. A great feeling!
I got her into my vehicle and headed to our Petsearchers farm and she finally had a warm safe bed. I took her to the vet in the morning and left her there for exams.
In regards to the search, thank you to the many people that called in sightings that proved instrumental to the positive conclusion of the search. The folks that called in to help or that were physically there to assist we appreciate the help so much.
Thank you so much to Liz and Brigitte from the rescue who helped us look for Darae and made themselves available to help at any time. Thanks to the Maple Ridge community and especially the Maple Ridge SPCA. Big thanks to Keri from our Missing Pets in Bc/page, she is constantly monitoring, posting, and editing our page – would be lost without her. Respect to all our friends that manage pages that helped with the info coming in on Darae, thanks so much!
This was a stressful search as we were fighting time as the weather, predators, and traffic could bring this search to an end at any time. Parker and I were fighting nasty colds near the end as well. London, my daughter came out multiple times to help in the search, she also had a cold but wanted to help Darae out as she knew Darae was in a dangerous situation.
The Petsearchers team is so happy Darae is finally out of this cold nasty weather!______________________
