Pretty things. This season has been, and still is, THE busiest season in our entire 9 years of doing this! Patty has help now, and that will surely speed things up. Repeating from our last post of pretty things, we are honoured to be in such demand for both our product, and our knowledge. There has been almost as much chatting as there has been sewing!! Patty loves both! Your one stop "shop" for all things skijoring!! https://www.pattysponyplace.com/skijoring-harness--shafts.html

We always intend to do a big "year in review" type post on New Year's day, but we never seem to get there. We will say 2024 was the most "unique" year we have had since we began this trek in 2011. How time goes by. We both thank ALL who continue to support us, and a special thanks to everyone who helped when we had the fire. We could not have hoped to go forward without said help, and though no where near where we want to be yet, we continue to make progress. Patty also continues to make progress with her health, and over this year, has kept up a pretty stream of harness sewing, outfit making, and she managed to complete all 12 entries for the agility gig. So there are always wins, always. We both wish all of our amazing clients, friends and fans, the very best in 2025, and a very Happy New Year's day!!

Pretty things. Realized it has been a while since posting skijoring rigs that have been made, and sent out. We remain grateful for the demand for our rigging - and very proud of having the harnesses all over the world. Also honoured to have played such a pivotal roll in gaining recognition for this activity - with minis, all the way up to draft horses - with folks young, and maybe not quite young, with limited skill, all the way up to master skiers. This is our ninth winter with these - somewhere around 500 of them now made, and with any luck - a whole bunch more to come!! Skijor on all, skijor on!!

From January of this year - we still have a few days to get another run at this in before the end of 2024. Tank and Tonk are ready - hopefully I am too.

Such a beautiful day today! She just had to take the superhorse for a little Christmas day drive. It has been a very long year this year, but some things have remained totally wonderful - Tonka is one of those things!!

A video from 2019. Never did rig up a breeching, but surely could, which, per the video, would make the system even better for training, and prepping for driving a cart. As the demand for the skijoring systems continues to grow, we will hopefully be doing more instruction style videos to ensure our equipment is used as intended, and to ensure it is not altered in a way that makes it less efficient.

Christmas cuties! A couple of Supertonk's outfits have new minis to wear them! Adorable Button in blue - with some added decorations made by her owner, that just happen to match pretty wonderfully!! And we have Duke in silver & black. Duke's little buddy Andrew, he is just cute as can be with no ST outfit!!

June 15th 2009, we decided to attend a local horse sale - the first one in over ten years. Must have been a bit a fate going on, as not only did we bring home this wonderful guy, we had fully planned to purchase another one we had seen in the pens, but when she went through the ring...neither of us bid...for reasons unknown - unless we go with Gimli being the one we were "supposed" to buy. He has been instrumental to both our business, and our mini horse life - a true teacher of many things. He has the brightest eyes of all the horses, and he continues to ask for his food with the kindest of whinnies. We think this is his first Christmas photo gig - for sure first one with lights, bears and an outfit - he was especially "curious" about that hat thing! Such a grand old soul he remains.

Saw an article that was written in 2020 - it covered, in part, how much weight a mini can pull. It stated that on "smooth terrain a 34 inch 200 pound mini can pull 600 pounds, but on rougher terrain, safely expected to pull 200 pounds". This is a video of our "people hauler" wagon, on runners - weight of about 700 pounds with driver. We have the two black Shetland ponies, and our old Queen hitched to it. How do you think Tonka would do pulling this by himself?

When the snow and cold arrive, it is easy to find something that reminds us of summer. The boys are ready for some tandem skijoring, but alas, all the nice snow that was here, is no longer! It only lasted about a week. Sure there will be more though!

Christmas things! If you "need" a one of a kind Christmas outfit, here is your chance to get one of Supertonk's. As you all know, they are lovingly created by the big boss harness girl, and you might also guess, she has run out of storage space for them all!! Message the page to chat about whichever one you like!! PS, there is also a "mini" ST with a Christmas outfit that needs a new house!!

Pretty things.

He has had more than a few outfits over the years. The gal that inspired the bison two years ago, is a pretty grand photographer, and she "needed" to take some pix of Tonk donning that outfit. While she was here, we figured she should capture this year's outfit too! A huge thank you to Kathy Penner (the bison lady) for the photos and the visit, and Happy Halloween to all.

Our Story

We are, Patty’s Pony Place. We began our business in 2011 with imported carts and harnesses. In March of 2012, Kelly designed and built his first carriage, and he has continued from that point on to introduce more ingenuity into the design of miniature horse carts and carriages than has been seen in the industry for a very long time. His traditional knowledge of horses, combined with his knowledge of suspension, and basic safety concepts, were all key to what he builds. He developed knock-down shafts for safe winter sledding - bolt-on suspensions for steel EE carts, I (Patty) have taken the lines on many fronts - learning upholstery in short order, manning the website and the now, three FB pages I have. I have done all the photography, and videography for the past three years now, and a bit of a designer in my own right, creating some pretty fun outfits for my Tonk, and developing a skijoring harness that has led to all sorts of wonderful things, including almost four million video views. We have both been working with horses for the greater part of our lives - Kelly with many years with draft horses, learning from the men who had worked with them all of their lives. Myself, flat racing as a youth, gymkhana, and pleasure riding, and spending 10 years learning all I could about the Tellington-Jones Equine Awareness Method - then learning how to drive from Kelly. Our history is traditional knowledge - that is also our “credentials” - along with our innate respect of the horse, and the “joy” aspect of having them in our lives. These two things are the base of what we design, and what we promote. Traditional knowledge - the laws of physics as pertaining to the working ability of the horse, and finally, to help people develop a calm, rational approach to driving.
