Wow! What a weekend playing NASDA in Williams Lake!

Over 3 days there were 251 rounds played, 32 titles (maybe more that didn't make it to the brag board) and many bonus points!

I couldn't have put this on without the help of good friends Barb King and Laura Baratta stepping up as well as everyone at the trial who pitched in with carrying gear, helping with the setting of courses, assembling rosettes, and organizing all the things that go into a trial. Thank you so much and it is so amazing to have such a wonderful group of dog people attend. The sportsmanship and camaraderie this weekend was beautiful

NASDA Trial weekend is here!!!

To those inquiring about services, please bear with me as I'll try to respond as quickly as possible but it's a busy weekend and limited internet access as well.

If any of my local students are interested and watching and learning you are welcome to check it out! We're going to be at the Williams Lake Fast Pitch League Diamonds from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Because there are competing dogs working hard both on and off leash, I ask that you please don't bring your dogs along to this event. NASDA games are all about sniffing which takes a lot of concentration!

Classes cancelled tonight!

I'm pretty sure I've contacted everyone but Manners class and Agility drop in are cancelled tonight because of the heat. Thursday looks a little cooler but the 6pm puppy class may change to 7pm to beat the heat! I'll be sure to contact those that are registered if time changes occur.

Also, Happy National Dog Day!

It wasn't very eventful around here just trying to stay cool lol.

There are still a couple of spots in our drop in agility class tonight! PM me to secure your spot

Entries for our September 12-14th NASDA trials in Williams Lake open at 8pm tonight!

Some questions people have been asking:

Q : What time will we start Friday?
A: This is going to depend on entries but I am hoping for a mid-day start to give people time to travel Friday morning if they choose. Most likely Brace and Urban Challenge games will be the last things run on Friday and may be held in the early evening.

Q: For Trail & Brace is the entry fee per dog or per team?
A: The entry fee is PER DOG and is $20/dog instead of the higher entry fees for other classes/levels.

Q: Do we pay when entering?
A: No, please wait for the trial secretary to confirm your entries and give you a total before sending payment :) A lot of this is being done manually this year instead of going through a show secretary service which charges service fees to the exhibitors so please expect it to take a little bit of extra time.

If you have any other questions, please do ask me :)

*** any entries sent early will be discarded*** The form may be open at sporadic times to allow judges to get their entries submitted.

Also - August NASDA league starts next Monday August 11th and there is still room to sign up! (scheduled for Monday August 11th, 18th and 26th).

If you're wondering what all this NASDA business is about, it is fun sniffing games for dogs!

There are various streams of games such as searching for lost items (wallet, keys, cell phones etc), shed antler hunting, and fun vermin searching where dogs search for rats that are hidden in safe and dog proof boxes! ( We know they're rats but they're still part of our Freelife Canine furry family and they are treated with the utmost respect and care).

These sports are very beginner friendly - if you're interested in learning more, I offer drop in classes on Tuesdays at 7pm. Many dogs are hooked after their first lesson!

This time last week I was on a plane to Thunderbay to spend the weekend judging a NASDA trial for the Thunder Bay Australian Shepherd Club of Ontario. It was a whirlwind weekend and a whirlwind week following so I haven't posted until now! I had the pleasure of judging some amazing dogs and their people and really enjoyed setting up courses on a beautiful property there.

I'd like to thank Tanya L Wheeler and Maddy Wheeler-Shepstone for their hospitality and keeping me fed and hydrated and the little slice of tourism at dinner right before catching my first plane home
