Just a few random photos from yesterday at my good friend Tiffany Sparkles n Suds Grooming house. Went out to her place to help with a day of grooming. Always great to see her and her lovely family, her dogs Moose and Reggie and her two kitties Meatball and Sghetti. Just a few photos of some of the dogs from yesterday featuring:

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝗬𝗕 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀:⁣

Having been involved in dogs my entire life, whether it be showing, grooming, or training, I have learned over the years how to establish ethical from non-ethical dog breeders. ⁣
⁣
Ethical breeders will not make a cent off breeding dogs. In fact, they spend more money on their dogs than they will ever make. Ethical breeders word hard to preserve purebreds, making sure their dogs are not only titled in the show ring, but health tested. These health tests include everything for hearing, eyes(CERF), hips(OFA), heart, elbows, and other genetic testing to ensure that healthy puppies are produced, minimizing the risks of health defects for their puppies. Also, ethical breeders spend months or years finding the right pairings, researching pedigrees, and even importing or using frozen semen from stud dogs who have passed on as it can be stored frozen for many years. ⁣

Also, if situations arise where you can’t keep the dog, an ethical breeder will always take the dog back. ⁣
⁣
𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀(𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀:⁣
⁣
- Use “buzzwords” when advertising puppies such as “teacup”, “hypoallergenic”(there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog), “rare”, “designer”, FB1(often used in Doodles), and more⁣
- No health testing is done ⁣
- Produce multiple litters a year⁣
- Own large numbers of dogs⁣
- Breed off-standard or faulty coat colours in dogs and sell them for more money ⁣
- Base their prices on things like coat colour ⁣
- Advertise on websites such as Craigslist or Kijiji ⁣
- Believe that a normal vet visit is sufficient to make a dog breed-able⁣
- Sell puppies to unsuspecting buyers for thousands of dollars ⁣
- Will not take a dog back ⁣
- No contracts ⁣
- Will sell to anyone without background checks⁣

Also, in Canada, it is 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 to sell any dog as purebred without Canadian Kennel Club papers. ⁣

Hopefully this is educational for some so next time you go to look for a dog, keep these in mind. ⁣

Had fun making this little logo for one of my best friends Tiffany Sparkles n Suds Grooming Tiffany is a long time friend and fellow pet groomer. She is amazing at her craft and if you’re looking for a groomer, I will always recommend her. Located in Dugald, MB, Tiffany works out of her home. I’ve had the pleasure of spending a number of Saturdays assisting her on busy days as well. Shoutout to this amazing lady and all she does. Go give her a follow!

This past weekend, Dobby got to stay with us while his mom went out of the city. He’s a sweet little dog. I still can’t believe this little guy is just a baby at 10 months old. This little social butterfly loves everybody. Peep that last photo for how I found him curled up with my fiancé one morning 🥰

Meet Hunter. Hunter is actually technically the first client of mine from last year before I decided to start up West Broadway Walkies. He belongs to my partner’s co-worker and is a spunky, fun loving, happy go-lucky Husky mix. How cute is he?
