Lucy is on her way to the animal hospital for an expensive emergency surgery to repair her fractured leg with implants. The vet is confident he can make her 'as good as new' with this procedure, but it's going to cost at least $5,000.

With no owner to cover the costs, Lucy is in desperate need of your support. Will you please make an urgent donation to get her the critical surgery she needs?

Please follow the link below for a gentle reminder on why keeping your pet up to date on rabies vaccine is so important. Earlier this month in Ontario, there was a case of rabies confirmed in a person, after being exposed to a bat with rabies virus.

We can not forget that pets are a major bridge between wildlife and people. Keeping your pet vaccinated helps to keep you and your family safe.

The Worms and Germs Blog authored by Drs. Scott Weese and Maureen Anderson covers animal health and diseases and is published by the Ontario Veterinary College University of Guelph.

🐶UPDATE TO REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS TRAVELING TO US AFTER AUGUST 1🐶

If you are bringing a dog into the US from a dog rabies-free or low-risk country, you now only need to fill out the CDC Dog Import Form. You no longer require a form completed by your veterinarian(Wooohooo!)

Your dog still needs to be 6 months of age or older
Have a microchip
Be healthy

To see full requirements visit the CDC website
www.cdc.gov/dogtravel

This is great news for all of our clients who travel with their dogs. We will continue to keep you updated should any other changes be made prior to or after August 1.

As many of you have heard, starting August 1, 2024 there are new travel requirements for dogs entering into the USA from Canada.

For the most up to date information please check the CDC website

https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/dogs-entering-us-after-august-1.html

A quick checklist of new requirements

-Dog must be 6 months of age or older

-Must have an ISO compliant microchip

-A valid rabies vaccine that was administered AFTER the microchip was implanted

-A vet visit within 30 days before you cross the border. Your vet will complete the certification of dog arriving from DMRVV-free or low risk country into the United States form.

-The above form must also be verified by the official government veterinarian. For more information on this please visit

https://inspection.canada.ca/en/animal-health/terrestrial-animals/exports/pets/united-states-america

In addition to the form your vet fills out, there is an online form that you are required to complete "CDC dog import form receipt". This form will be available after July 15th. It must be submitted via the CDC website 3 to 10 days prior to travel and will require you to upload a picture of your dog.

We realize that these new regulations are confusing and frustrating to understand. Please be patient with us, as we are also trying to navigate these new requirements put in place by the CDC.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more.

It is shaping up to be a hot week out there ☀️ Don’t forget about your furry family members in these extreme temperatures. Pets can easily overheat and suffer heat stroke if the proper precautions are not taken.

Some tips to keep them safe and cool:

- keep pets in a cool, shaded area.
- access to fresh water
- go for walks in early AM, or later evening
- and of course don’t leave them alone in a parked car

Don’t forget that brachycephalic breeds(think pug, frenchie, boxer), obese and elderly pets, and those with heart or lung disease are higher risk. Be sure to keep them in an air conditioned area if possible.
