Public service announcement.

Everyone knows that Lyme disease is endemic in Yarmouth but do you know about Anaplasmosis. This is also a tick borne illness and it can be extremely serious.

Symptoms of Anaplasmosis are very similar to stomach flu or gastroenteritis - diarrhea, vomiting, extreme lethargy, fever.

Anaplasmosis can cause severe dehydration, kidney problems, and problems with your blood platelets and white blood cells. Left untreated it can lead to death.

Not trying to scare you but just wanted to make you aware that this is going on. There are currently 5 people in Yarmouth hospital with Anaplasmosis.
