Looks like we are moving our expected foaling date up ! Our Welsh mare Sweetie didn’t seem to like the stallion in the pasture breeding environment last spring ….. except she fooled us and must have been bred right away when we dropped her off in heat !!!
Baby belly showed up this winter to our surprise and luckily we knew her heat cycle going to the stud ,so our best guess is within the next three weeks . She’s started to bag up slightly and soften around her tail head so cameras went on tonight ….. any guesses …. Filly or c**t ? 💗💙

This little lady is in the barn now with her mama friend ….. we have a little ways to go before foaling watch starts but we’ve got lots of grooming and loving on to do for these girls . We like to observe them everyday and be close so we can note any changes at this stage , as well as give them ample time to relax and be comfortable in the barn , especially when they are maiden as this Welsh mare is ! Getting excited for this years foals, both we are expecting come from stunning sires ❤️

🌟New training program announcement 🌟

Baby class !
(To be clear , not baby human but young horse !)
Our baby horse class will include skill building from the ground up in preparation for future under saddle or driving training. It will give youngsters in hand experience in the arena and in the barn , encouraging manners , patience and exposing them to new things in a quiet and one on one environment . Can include (depending on age ) tying , furthering halter breaking (we require they arrive with a basic understanding ),barn manners , lunging , round pen work , in hand obstacles , show prep and fitness , showmanship beginning , clipping prep etc !

This is not limited to an age but rather a stage in development so if you have an older horse who could use a refresher or needs to add some new skills give us a shout ! A lot of problems can be solved from the ground , and laying a solid foundation in youngsters can help eliminate future training issues as well !

Can’t wait for green grass and groomed arena sand !!

Wednesday evening lessons will continue this year ….. likely starting mid April or beginning of May ,depending on this snow melting ! We will have options for small group as well as private .

Additional evening /weekends lessons can be arranged as desired as well as some day clinics coming up in the near future ! Please comment below on any specific clinic topics you would like to see scheduled ! We make a day out of learning and growing with your horse plus a good bit of fun added in !

If you or someone you know may be interested in learning and growing as a horseman(woman) I may have quite an opportunity unfolding !

Often I’m asked about lesson horses (which we usually don’t have as I prefer to help riders with their own mounts ) but there may be an opportunity on a partial lease horse for 2023 !

It would be an on-site lease with a lesson plan scheduled . He is as sweet as they come with quite a bit of training in basic western , which,with the owners permission could be broadened to English and some show experience . He would be a great match for a older youth who would like to work with a younger horse .

Good morning y’all !! Long time no see !
Well …. We’ve been busy around the ranch.
As some of you may know we’ve been rebuilding our home from the studs up , the flood we had in July turned into so much more and we finally were able to get to start the renovation early this year . After getting sick from the mold and living in our living quarters and barn we are excited to say it should only be a few more weeks and we can clear out of this pretty ladies way and get back to our regular work !
Although we have enjoyed our time being so close to our animals …and small family members….we are so excited to have full sized beds and regular appliances back !
Stay tuned for some new training options and as always we will start booking in our tune-up and show prep sessions again ❤️

I hope your trainer doesn't give you what you want.

I DO hope your trainer gives you what you need, more importantly...what your horse needs.

There will always be someone willing to do it faster and flashier. There will always be someone willing to get you into the show ring on your time line instead of your horses. There will always be someone who will tell you only the things you want to hear. For the right price, there will always be someone.

I don't want that kind of someone...not for me and not for you all either.

So, choose your someone carefully.

Choose someone who values their process enough that they can't be swayed from it by demands and dollars. They know where they've been, where they're going and all of the things they've learned between. They put your horse first and show you the value in work that is centered around what the horse needs. They are your biggest supporter while remaining honest and realistic about what it takes to achieve your goals. The only promise they make, is that your horse will get better...and you will too. You pay them but at the same time, who they are at their core can't be bought. They live their truth each day, honest and humble.

That type of someone is priceless...

Good morning !

I just wanted to let everyone know I will be taking the last couple weeks of September off …. Setting aside some family time after a long year ( and more ) !

In October I will be resuming with limited services . My family needs more of my time , I need to create some down time for myself and I wish to dedicate some energy towards our new , growing family business . Corey took a leap of faith to build something that would keep him from having to go back north to work and now I need to get my part of it going and support his effort .

I will be aiming to book one lesson day/evening a week at the ranch until we run out of light for the fall ….. most likely Wednesdays, and will make a plan for a winter program once we have to . Training spaces for the fall/winter are full at this point .We will have availability for some rehab cases , with more of a focus on breeding management and foaling through the cold months .

Thank you for your understanding ! I will keep everyone posted as to availability’s as they come up as well as my plans on offering select clinics later in the year !

Snowy, cold , rainy morning .... been a day of “Alberta can’t decide” weather so everyone is enjoying some extra barn time .
Every time we handle our equines we are teaching , training and building skills . Even while doing chores or the little things we don’t think about in our daily routines we are working on building up that foundation , adding patience and many other positive behaviours ....... just something to always keep in mind !

Always take a deep breath and figure yourself out before asking your horse “why?” ...... and all too often you won’t even need to ask ! Energy is so important around horses and as we discover and learn of our own energies we can unlock a much better way to train our equines ❤️

I have always been one to pick up pretty quick on the type of energy around me.

Whether this is just me or something I have grown to be more of the more I am around these animals- I’m not sure.

What I do know though is that they know.

They know more about how you are feeling then you probably know how you are feeling. Whether you are feeling anxious, sad, confident, intimidated, defeated or full of gratitude and contempt- they know and they soak it in like a sponge- for us. Not only that, but they are going to respond according to how you feel. Some more than others.

Keep this in mind the next time you are around a horse or your horse. If things aren’t going how you planned- check in with yourself before telling someone else what they are or aren’t doing. You’ll be amazed how changing your tone, pressure or timing will change your experience. I’ve learnt that it’s the same with ppl.

And for goodness sake- whether it is a horse or a person- tell them and affirm when they are doing a good job. Even though they usually know this too- everyone likes credit where credit is due.

I listened to a podcast once where they talked about how, “instead of always encouraging your horse to move away from pressure, create a pressure they WANT to move towards...”

I like that.

We offer a great groundwork training package as a pre-start for youngsters ..... get them exposed to situations , learn barn manners and etiquette in the arena while lunging , ground driving and even getting prep for in-hand classes ..... all with the intent of having an easy successful start the following year ! ....... the running of the “kids” is a rare event around here but we do also offer other animal care services ....... and heck , they sure help with bomb proofing !

We are a family run , small scale equestrian centre offering an assortment of services with a friendly , quiet , personal atmosphere for both horse and owner . Located in a peaceful valley NE of Sundre, Alberta.

From rehab of injuries , stall rest , conditioning of performance horses , foaling out and breeding prep to lesson programs and training options ..... we tailor to everyone’s needs . We work closely with industry professionals and are also more than willing to have your vets, farriers, body workers etc assist with our programs.
