Kattjouren - the rescue group that first saved Kelly - has submitted all their evidence to the Swedish court (including the petitions you signed and the letters you wrote!). The court is now examining the evidence, and we hope they will have reached a decision in approximately a week.
Shalini Persson, the director of Kattjouren, will be on Gwen Cooper's podcast later this week to give more details--so be sure to tune in: gwencooper.com/podcast.

-------------------------ORIGINAL POST (7/16)------------------------
What we can do to save Kelly the 3-month-old blind kitten!
In a nutshell: Kelly--a perfectly healthy 3-month-old blind kitten--was being cared for by a Swedish cat rescue called Kattjouren, who had already found her a forever home. They brought her to the vet for the final surgery that would remove her badly infected eyes and save her life—the same surgery many of our cats have had.
Someone reported her situation to the local government as being inhumane. The local government agreed that it would be cruel to keep a healthy but blind kitten alive and confiscated Kelly. She is now being held in the equivalent of the “pound”—in a tiny cage, with no one and nothing familiar around her—pending a court hearing that will determine whether she will live or die.
So far, the Swedish Agricultural Board has weighed in to say that blind cats have no quality of life, and that Kelly should die. This is why it’s so important that those of us who know better advocate for Kelly!
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
If you have or have had a blind cat, or if you've worked with blind cats as a rescuer, please write a BRIEF and CIVILIZED email (your email may be quoted by the press!) to [email protected] and reference Docket Number 282-6226-2021. **** MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THE DOCKET NUMBER!! *****
English is very commonly spoken in Sweden, so don’t worry about a language barrier! Just speak from your heart—your email doesn’t have to be too long—and feel free to include photos or video demonstrating just how happy, loved, and loving the life of your own blind cat—or those you’ve rescued and/or worked with—has been.
ADDITIONAL WAYS TO HELP:
Two petitions have been created that we hope you all will sign in addition to emailing directly!
Petition 1: http://chng.it/2G5pcMPQMW
Petition 2: skrivunder.com/lat_blinda_kelly_fa_leva?uv=37079048
For petition #2, unless you can read Swedish you will likely need to download a translation application on your browser to navigate the site or use Google Chrome as it already has one built in (just you click towards the right side of the URL box). After signing they will send you an email asking to confirm your signature, be sure to do so or your signature will not be counted!
