What new doodle puppy owners aren’t aware of🤷‍♀️
~doodle coats(especially F1’s) can be grown out to their final length of 5 to 7 inches
~the long coat does NOT make the doodle more hot, in contrary, it insulates against the heat☺️
~doodle coats more often then not loose the plush fluffy free falling look when cut into too much or prematurely(takes a full year to grow out the coat)
~ doodle coat turns more mat prone and harder to maintain when cut into prematurely(prior to a year) and too much😞
~long doodle coats if maintained well protect against sun burn and skin allergies.
~grooming the grown out doodle coat allows you to groom at home and save a small fortune😜
~Most doodle coats must be combed out once a day to stay mat free and healthy with a bath every 2 to 4 weeks.

Hi you all,
When it comes to doodle grooming styles, it gets to be very confusing😫
Their coats can be kept short or clipped, scissor cut or fully grown out depending on the type of coat.
Doodle coats are a mix between a double coat and a single coat breed. Especially the F1 doodle carries some of both genes. When it comes to multi generational doodles, they carry less or even no double coat gene.
We do know double coats suffer a great deal if cut into. We also know the single coats(poodle)can be cut without a negative effect on the coat.
We know that doodle coats, especially F1’s, can be grown out to a mature length of anywhere between 4 to 7 inches. At that point they stop growing.
Because of the nature of a mixed coat, it poses a risk if the coat is cut into, especially if cutting(that includes cutting clipping shaving etc) starts before the doodle is a year old.
Because of all these factors, it is very important to let the adult coat fully grow in(takes a good year)then analyze what type of coat it is (single, mixed or double coat)
Thats the only way to give the new doodle puppy owners the opportunity for the fluffy plush free falling coat☺️
Lastly, after that year, if the owner wants to keep the coat long, I recommend at most a scissor cut and frequent to daily comb outs.

We specialize in achieving and maintaining the fluffy plush free falling doodle coat.
We found that cutting into the doodle coat often promotes a curly, wiry, more mat prone
coat, especially if cutting happens before the doodle is a year old or is clipped or shaved. Scissor cutting after a year is the safest way to go to avoid taking a risk that the coat changes in texture and curls up(so called poodled)
This grooming style works well for those puppy owners that love the plush free falling coat, have time to do comb outs and want to save money on grooming expenses.

I am often asked if my doodles are too hot in the summer? Actually no, the long mat free coat acts as insulation from heat and cold both!
In addition the long coat protects the skin from the sun.
This grooming style works well for puppies that have not yet been cut. Can also work for adult doodles that have a single coat like a poodle. Most however, have a mix between single and double coat….
