En realidad es muy sencillo: no podemos (o no debemos) llamar Equitación a aquello que no contribuya a hacer que un caballo se fortalezca a través de la práctica sostenida de dicha Equitación con el paso del tiempo.
Por ejemplo:
¿Tu caballo presenta un mayor desarrollo muscular ahora que hace dos años?
Entonces es que la Equitación que practicas con él, le fortalece.
¿Tu caballo te lo pone más fácil ahora en el trabajo que cuando empezaste con él y con poco que le pidas él te lo da todo?
Eso quiere decir que la Equitación que haces con él, la entiende, no le resulta molesta ni agresiva, y por eso, te corresponde en el trabajo entregándose por más leves que sean tus peticiones.
¿Tu caballo se lesiona, o se inflama o se tropieza o es un caballo que va a más en todas sus capacidades desde que lo tienes?
Si se lesiona, aunque sean lesiones tontas, tu Equitación probablemente no sea adecuada. Si las lesiones son algo que nunca afectan a tu caballo, tu Equitación probablemente sea buena. (Aunque aquí intervienen más factores, pero hoy hablamos de Equitación)
¿Tu caballo se pone contento al verte y conserva su alegría y su brillo mientras le pones la montura y lo preparas?
Si es así, la Equitación que practicas con él no le está causando problemas.
¿Necesitas cambiar de hierro frecuentemente, poner rendajes u otras trampas para poder obtener una cierta postura?
Si es el caso, tu Equitación necesita un cambio y tu caballo te lo está diciendo claramente. Pero si con un simple filete o una cabezada sin hierro tu caballo te responde perfectamente y puedes conseguir que adopte diversas posturas de trabajo, tu Equitación va por muy buen camino.
En resumen, es muy fácil: si tu caballo cada vez se involucra más cada vez que lo montas, si no se enfada ni se calienta, si te responde a leves peticiones de pierna y manos, si su físico mejora cada año, si no se tropieza y es un caballo ágil y coordinado, si no se cansa en las sesiones de trabajo, si no se lesiona y desde que te subes hasta que te bajas, es un caballo colaborativo y contento, tu Equitación es buena para él.
Pero si estás lejos de ese escenario, tendrás que cambiar cosas.
Aunque hay personas que en lugar de cambiar su Equitación, cambian de caballo cada cierto tiempo.
En fin, cada uno que decida lo que prefiere.
