Dogs "Winston" and "Gwen" Relocated Safely To Spain!
Taking pets to the EU takes several months to prepare, including microchipping, rabies vaccination, rabies antibody titre testing and a minimum 90-day waiting period after the titre test blood draw date before the pet may enter the EU. And during these uncertain times, there are also flight booking challenges and the possibility of cancelled flights. Making both a primary travel plan and a backup plan is essential. We recommend starting the process as early as possible - at least 6-8 months in advance of departure date. Two adorable dogs, Winston and Gwen, recently made the journey with their family from China to Germany and then to Spain with the help of ICVS.
Winston and Gwen and their family began preparing for their export more than one year before their departure date.
ICVS helped Winston and Gwen with confirming ISO microchips, providing legal rabies and distemper vaccinations, administering deworming and parasite preventives, completing the official rabies antibody titre tests and issuing the official vaccination red books required for customs declaration and export. With all documents from ICVS, Winston and Gwen had no problems receiving approval for export from China and import to Germany and Spain!
In all the family had a three day journey! First they flew 12 hours with Lufthansa Airlines from Beijing to Frankfurt, Germany. The dogs traveled in the cabin, so the family booked seats with extra leg room for the dogs and themselves. In Frankfurt, customs was quick and easy. The dogs' import papers and microchips were checked then they were free to go! The next flight was a day later from Frankfurt to Madrid, Spain which was only 2 hours with Air Europa. After spending the night in Madrid, the family took a two hour train to their final destination in Alicante, Spain.
The dogs did well during the entire journey! The family is now relaxing and soaking up the sun at the beach. They are already loving their new lives in Spain!
ICVS is delighted that we were able to help this family relocate together when the time came to depart China. ICVS looks forward to helping more families stay together when the time comes to travel by helping prepare pets for their future export.
