Everyone says “Cats don’t need grooming, they groom themselves”

Yeah? Well tell these two that 😅

Side Note: Grooming is actually very helpful. Especially during these wonky weather months when it’s hot/cold/hot/cold. Their coat becomes extremely thick and dense & then tried to shed. If the coat is greasy-it will not allow that undercoat to fall out, which in turns causes matting. Another scenario-it DOES fall out but it falls out by the masses and your vacuum is clogged within minutes…
Bathing will help 1) eliminate that grease and avoid the potential mats and 2) greatly decrease the amount of fall out that you see!

You would be blown away at the amounts of fur we remove just in our standard bath & blow dry package. We do a light comb to remove any debris/light matting at the start & lose hair there. Then in the bathtub 😳 it falls out by the pounds. Next they get a luxury blow out where we hand dry them and the force of the air blows out a ton more coat…and then a final brushing where we are STILL able to remove some of that left over fur after the whole process. It’s insane to think “it’s just a bath” until you see it 😅

We have some BIG news coming soon but just wanted to share some updates:
1) We are family owned and operated and just like you we like to enjoy our family therefore we no longer offer Sunday or Holiday drop off or Pickups, however we do offer you to pick up on the next business day prior to 10 am and not be charged another day.
Also Holiday Rates are double the rate for the day of the Holiday. Again as we like to enjoy our holiday and family as well, but we don’t mind coming in twice a day to care for your loved ones.
2) We are moving nail trims to Tuesdays with appointments between the hours of 5-6 pm. We are in high demand and we are trying to make our work flow more efficient. Nail trims will be done at a discount rate of $10 CASH ONLY and soft paws still $25. If you can’t make Tuesdays we will do our best to get you in very early before grooming starts during the week and it will be the normal fee of $15.

Cats need baths too!

With the summer approaching, winter coats will start to shed! This will in turn either leave you with furballs floating or a matted kitty.

Grooming will help tremendously! During the spa experience , we eliminate a majority of the loose undercoat which significantly reduces the amount of shed you see floating around your floors and furniture. Bathing also helps remove the grease from your fur baby’s coat-which is the equivalent to glue that holds in loose fur creating matting.

REMINDER: If you don’t cancel 48 hours prior to your pets grooming appointment, you will be required to prepay for your next grooming appointment at booking. It will be applied towards grooming for that appointment scheduled. We work by appointments only and when you do not cancel, it leaves an open window of 2 hours we could have filled and nothing for us to do.

If your interested in becoming a cat groomer, that’s fantastic! However there’s more to it then just picking up Clippers. I highly recommend you going to school and earning your CFMG just like the rest of us. I have been approached many times over the years about training someone and I don’t have the time as I also think everyone should be certified! Invest in yourself and your career!

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will always expect favours.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the collections agent, and scheduler ..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…and hopefully more of us will stick around 🤓

That being said…I wouldn’t choose any other career!

WE HAVE ADOPTED A FAMILY!

UPDATE on this post. We have been able to fulfill the childrens wish list as well as help another child! We are very grateful for each and everyone of you who have helped with this! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!!🎁🎄

As you all know we usually adopt a family for Christmas here at The Cat Spa. This year has been extremely tough on many but one family in particular needs some assistance. So many of you have always been kind to donate and without you these children may not have Christmas.We are asking if you would like to help with 3 children a 3 year old, 4 year old and a 8 year old. The mom has just got out of a very toxic relationship that involved mental, physical and emotional abuse.
