After not successfully raising their baby past 4 days in their previous clutch, the pair has laid again and this time we decided to take the baby for hand raising. Hopefully successful hatching of the other eggs in the clutch.

Our first egg for the season laid yesterday. They are newly paired last season and it looks like they are doing everything right so far. The fertile male before with a lunatic hen making it difficult to get fertile eggs to chicks on the perch and the hen laying perfectly with a clear male. We hope this combination will make for better results.

Golden conure male in perfect feather has escaped last Thursday 10th March 2022 from Gosnells WA. He is semi tame and closed band. Please be on the lookout and contact us with any possible information to his whereabouts. Owners obviously distraught. Please note, photo from google is for clear reference of colour and condition. Nem só de açaí vive uma ararajuba! 🐤
Uma de suas frutinhas preferidas é o muruci (Byrsonima crassifolia). Nessa época do ano as plantas começam a frutificar, principalmente nas bordas das matas secundárias do parque, e as amarelinhas aproveitam para fazer a festa. Quando você estiver passeando no parque e quiser observá-las, basta ficar atento nesses locais 👇

As ararajubas estão voltando!

A ararajuba (Guaruba guarouba) é uma ave que, por causa das suas cores, simboliza o Brasil. Só ocorre em nosso país e encontra-se ameaçada de extinção. A cidade de Belém é um dos locais onde a espécie foi extinta, não sendo mais vista na cidade há quase um século. Em um esforço para reverter essa situação, o IDEFLOR-Bio e a Fundação Lymington, localizada em São Paulo, estabeleceram uma parceria desde 2017 para trazer de volta essa bela ave para voar livre em Belém, no Parque do Utinga. Após três solturas bem sucedidas as ararajubas estão voando livremente em Belém tanto na área urbana quanto no Parque Estadual do Utinga, a área onde o projeto é realizado e onde podem ser vistas com facilidade. No dia 28 de Junho foi iniciada a segunda fase do projeto, na qual serão realizadas mais solturas e o monitoramento da espécie.
