If anyone, anywhere tells you to pull the horses head down (or uses leverage and gadgets to do so) they have no knowledge of healthy horse biomechanics or of correct training.
The horse's nose must always lead, with the poll highest and the gullet open. The base of the ears mustn't be lower than the withers. The jaw must be mobile. If the horse cannot chew and swallow, the hindlegs cannot operate correctly. If the hindlegs cannot operate correctly, the horse will not be able to jump, or stay off the forehand, or stay sound.

We are hiring for a multidisciplinary riding coach. Beginner lessons, dressage, jumping, schooling/training horses, therapeutic riding, camps. This position is currently part time but could lead to full time.

That's a wrap! Three days of unwinding with and .helene. We as students were able to do an entire assessment on a horse today. Having this expansive toolbox now available to us to help our personal and school horses access their highest potential is really exciting!

Level 2 will be at the end of January. And .helene is available to see individual horses at your request. Contact us via dm.

Today we worked on control of direction, balance, and precision through an intricate exercise with lots of transitions and changes in direction.

But, we also worked on giving each other feedback - positive and constructive. As the giver: having a critical eye, being able to see what is working well, and where is there room for growth; and doing this all with kindness, assertiveness, and a desire to make the other person better.

As the receiver: hearing the feedback as constructive, not negative, applying it, and and evaluating if it gave better results.

As the coach it went really well... so well they sat around the barn afterwards as the experience is a catalyst for teaming building and camaraderie! 😂

Side note: they were also so much more focused while riding, as well as in the coaches seat. Guess we'll be doing this more often! 💡

Flo the Machine - or Firecracker 🧨- this mare has been on a long road to recovery and strength building as well as keeping her mind relaxed. She's one of THOSE mares....

We have made so much progress - over a looong period of time (didn't know I had this much patience in me) - but I feel like we are finally getting somewhere. Thanks to the help of Tomeu Homar Calafell for the coaching on the flat that has vastly (obviously 🙄) helped, as we begin to pop her over some jumps.
