Great morning for the TNR (trap-neuter-release) program C4C dedicates her life to here in Cyprus. Lynn gives her all for the safety and health of these cats and the TNR program is a major part of that. Because of spay-neuter, they will be healthier and happier. Female cats often get pregnant too young and die in the process of giving birth as well as their kittens not surviving. Female cats also end up having multiple litters back to back and it takes a toll on their bodies. Because of spay-neuter males stop fighting for the females, resulting in wounds that get infected causing them to die a slow painful death. The males also stop attacking and killing the neutered females or the kittens of a female in heat again while nursing. Lastly with over 1,000,000 million stray cats in Cyprus, spay-neuter stops the rise in that number and helps stop them from dying from starvation, diseases, cars, abandonment from mother cats, or simply being thrown in the garbage by people tired of so many cats. 😢

Helped Cans for Cats here in Larnaca with their trap–neuter–release program this morning. It was only a one cat morning, but one is better than none. She will be fixed and back in her neighborhood by the afternoon. Medical costs paid for by Cans for Cats.

There are more than a million stray cats in Cyprus and every season that number increases. The lack of public belief in Spay/Neuter is the reason. There are a few charity organizations that work tirelessly to Trap-Spay-Release and pay the vet bill from their accounts but it only slows the number. More education on the value of Spay/Neuter is needed and donations to support their cause. If you’re looking for a group to donate to may I suggest…Cans for Cats
