🚨Abandoned puppy finds a home at the Price Police Department
"The Story of PeeDee: The Abandoned Puppy
On February 10, 2024, around 7:30p.m., Officer Steven Brown was dispatched to meet a complainant regarding a found puppy.
The complainant was driving on the highway in Price when they happened to notice a box on the side of the road. As they approached the box, they noticed something stick its head up. The complainant stopped and discovered a puppy who was left inside. The box also contained a paper listing the puppy's breed, birthdate, and vaccination chart. There was no information provided indicating a possible owner. The two-month-old puppy was left outside in the freezing cold and darkness.
That same night, there was a social gathering of off-duty officers at a residence where Officer Brown and Sgt. Sackett decided to crash the party and introduce the puppy. It didn't take long before there were numerous officers who offered to foster the puppy while attempts were made to locate an owner. Chief Sicilia took responsibility for the puppy at that time.
In the nearly 20 days since, the puppy has spent his weekdays at the Price City Police Department getting to know everyone and everything. There have been no reports received through dispatch, animal shelter, or police department regarding the abandoned puppy.
Since nobody has come forward, the puppy has been named PeeDee and we are working towards getting him certified and trained as a Critical Incident Emotional Support Dog. We've got a long road ahead of us, but we are excited for him to be able to spread the same love and joy to others that he has already provided for our police family. If there is anyone who wants to donate for PeeDee’s specialized training, food, and supplies, donations are graciously accepted at Price City Hall (185 E. Main Street) or the Price City Police Department (910 N. 700 E.)
We also want to give a special thanks to Tractor Supply who have already donated generously to PeeDee with a bed, toys, and food."- Price City Police Department
