Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project Have-a-Heart Namibia, saving lives through sterilisation, vaccination and essential medical care! THANK YOU!

This is the official page of the 'Have-a-Heart Namibia' project - a much needed project that allows us to provide free spay and neuter services to dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia, also in areas currently without veterinary services. Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainabl

e and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia. Since starting in 2013, Have-a-Heart has grown to having teams working in several towns across Namibia and has collectively sterilised nearly 24,000 animals (March 2025). The project is run by volunteers and fully dependent on donations - every cent of your donation is used for the welfare of Namibia's dogs and cats. 💔 We are absolutely heartbroken for this poor kitten who was found in a rubbish container—emaciated, with an old wound on his back. We are so sorry, little one, that humans failed you.

But from now on, you are not alone. ❤️

Thanks to the quick response from team Triglav Trust, who drove to pick him up and Windhoek Veterinary Clinic cc who gave him the urgent treatment he needed, and to everyone who supports animal welfare in Namibia, this kitten now has a fighting chance.

He is now safe and gets the care he needs, and while his road to recovery may be long, he now has a community of people who love him, care about him, and are standing up for him.

Thank you to every single person who plays a part in giving animals like him hope. Together, we can be the change. 🐾

Let's hope this boy will feel better soon

🐾 Henties Bay Spay Day Update 🐾

Thanks to the support of the Fondation Brigitte Bardot, we were able to hold another successful spay day in Henties Bay — with 9 dogs and 2 cats sterilised and welcomed to the Have a Heart family.

Every procedure done is one more step toward preventing unwanted litters, reducing suffering, and giving animals in this community a healthier future.

Special thanks to Dr. Winterbach and Sheelagh for their compassion, and to the committed owners who brought their animals — some for the first time, others returning for follow-ups and vaccinations.

Behind every number is a family, a story, a life made better.

Thank you for making this work possible.

Have a Heart will proudly be manning water table no.10 at the 15km mark along the Bachmus Marathon route!
We will be there cheering on the runners, keeping spirits high, and handing out refreshments with lots of heart.
We would love your help! If you’re running, supporting, or just passing by – please snap some pictures of our table and the amazing runners, and don’t forget to tag us in your posts. Let’s show off the energy, kindness, and community spirit of this special day!

Omaruru Spay Days with State Vets

🐾 Another successful spay day in Omaruru – made possible through close collaboration with the dedicated State Vet team.

These small, focused days aim to provide essential ongoing care to dogs and cats in the area, including sterilisation and treatment for conditions like TVT (transmissible venereal tumor), which is sadly common in unsterilised dogs.

While we aim to hold spay days here weekly, it’s not always possible — resources, logistics, and staffing don’t always line up. But when it does come together, we make every moment count.

Thanks to many responsible owners, the waiting list is long and the commitment is there. Slowly and steadily, the fantastic Have a Heart team in Omaruru is reaching more animals and bringing long-term solutions to the community.

Thank you to the State Vet team, all the hardworking volunteers of Have a Heart and The ARK Rescue and Rehabilitation ! With your support, they are making days like this possible.

Every sterilised animal is a step toward fewer unwanted litters, healthier pets, and less suffering.

Our Story

This is the official page of Have-a-Heart Namibia - a much needed project which provides free spay and neuter services for dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia in municipal townships and informal settlements, in some areas currently without any veterinary services whatsoever.

Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainable and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia.

Have a Heart is solely relying on donations and run by volunteers. All donations received are used for spay, neuter and necessary medication. Our volunteers go out of their way to improve the lives of animals in townships and informal settlements by providing advice and physical help to pet owners who would otherwise have no access to such information or service.
