Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project

Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project Have-a-Heart Namibia, saving lives through sterilisation, vaccination and essential medical care! THANK YOU!

This is the official page of the 'Have-a-Heart Namibia' project - a much needed project that allows us to provide free spay and neuter services to dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia, also in areas currently without veterinary services. Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainabl

e and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia. Since starting in 2013, Have-a-Heart has grown to having teams working in several towns across Namibia and has collectively sterilised nearly 24,000 animals (March 2025). The project is run by volunteers and fully dependent on donations - every cent of your donation is used for the welfare of Namibia's dogs and cats. Every Life Matters – Eddie’s Story 🧡🐾

Little Eddie — a small, ginger soul rescued from the streets by a kind-hearted woman.

Eddie was terribly sick, painfully thin, dehydrated, and crawling with fleas. His eyes were crusted shut, and he struggled to breathe with a nasty cold (snuffles). In his shorth life he had already seen more suffering than any creature ever should.

But compassion changes everything!

Dr. Chanel and the caring team at Farmhouse Veterinary Clinic welcomed Eddie with open arms and through the Have a Heart - Animal-Kind International International emergency fund, treatments started immediately. They gave him the medical care he so desperately needed: fluids, antibiotics, flea and tick treatment — and gentle hands that held him like he mattered.

And he does matter. They all do!

When Ronja and Tanja from Triglav Trust heard about Eddie, they visited him and brought him extra food and a toy to cuddle with, lots of love and a reminder that Eddie wasn’t alone. 💞

And then… Eddie found his miracle. A loving home waited for him, even before his little body had fully healed. He was chosen, cherished, and carried into a life he could never have imagined from the cold streets.

🐾 But not every kitten is as lucky as Eddie.

This is why we must care. Why we must act. And why spaying and neutering is so essential. It prevents so many innocent lives from being born into hardship, from struggling just to survive another day. We have the power to stop this cycle of suffering.

✨ Every one of us can make a difference. Offer help, open your heart, support your local rescue, adopt, foster, donate, educate… even the smallest act of kindness can save a life.

Because every Eddie out there deserves a chance to feel safe, warm, and loved.

Catwalk for a Cause – Making a Real Difference!

We’re incredibly grateful to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Catwalk for a Cause, a stunning fashion show with a heart, held in May!

Thanks to their generous donation of N$10,000, we were able to host a Spay Day in Walvis Bay, providing free spay and neuter services to animals from low- to no-income areas.

Every life altered is a life changed — and this wouldn’t have been possible without their support.

Swipe through to see some moments from the day and the impact your kindness creates!

Education is the key to a better future!

Did you know that several Have a Heart volunteers archived certificates with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control?

You, too, can become a Dog Health Champion by completing four online courses.

The free online courses are packed with valuable information about rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and community health. It’s a great step toward making our communities in Namibia safer for both, people and animals.

We highly encourage everyone to take part in this educational opportunity—it’s accessible, informative, and truly empowering!

You can start your learning journey here: https://education.rabiesalliance.org/course/index.php?categoryid=2

Let’s keep learning and making a difference together! 💙🐶🐱

Our Story

This is the official page of Have-a-Heart Namibia - a much needed project which provides free spay and neuter services for dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia in municipal townships and informal settlements, in some areas currently without any veterinary services whatsoever.

Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainable and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia.

Have a Heart is solely relying on donations and run by volunteers. All donations received are used for spay, neuter and necessary medication. Our volunteers go out of their way to improve the lives of animals in townships and informal settlements by providing advice and physical help to pet owners who would otherwise have no access to such information or service.
