Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project

Have a Heart Namibia - Spay and Neuter Project Have-a-Heart Namibia, saving lives through sterilisation, vaccination and essential medical care! THANK YOU!

This is the official page of the 'Have-a-Heart Namibia' project - a much needed project that allows us to provide free spay and neuter services to dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia, also in areas currently without veterinary services. Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainabl

e and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia. Since starting in 2013, Have-a-Heart has grown to having teams working in several towns across Namibia and has collectively sterilised nearly 26,000 animals (October 2025). The project is run by volunteers and fully dependent on donations - every cent of your donation is used for the welfare of Namibia's dogs and cats. A Heartfelt Thank You to FP du Toit Transport Group and SPCA Windhoek!

Transport and Logistics sometimes plays a huge role in what we do, it’s what makes the food donations reach our animals. Thanks to the incredible team at FP du Toit Transport and SPCA Windhoek - who was responsible for the logistics -, a generous pet food donation from Taueber & Corssen safely arrived where it was needed most.

Your help keeps tails wagging and tummies full!

A Huge Thank You!

We’re incredibly grateful for the generous pet food donation we received from Taeuber & Corssen. This contribution will go a long way in helping us feed and care for the animals that depend on us every day.

Generous donations of pet food, like this one, play an important part in our mission, helping us feed and care for animals in need while they await sterilisation, recovery, or rehoming. Together, through compassion and practical support, we can reduce the stray population and build a future where every animal is healthy, cared for, and valued.

Two years ago, little Chavi was rushed to Dr. Erna at VetsWeb Mariental in a life-threatening emergency. She only survived thanks to an emergency C-section. Her family was deeply worried, but after a week of expert care at the clinic, they were overjoyed to take their precious girl back home.

Since then, Chavi has been thriving. Her family makes sure she never misses a check-up, gets all her booster vaccinations, and receives regular parasite treatment. Every year, she walks into the clinic with her incredibly caring dad, and every year, Dr. Erna is overjoyed to see how loved and well cared for she is.

This is what Have a Heart does.
Together with Animal-Kind International we step in during the hardest moments, giving animals like Chavi a fighting chance – and supporting families who love them dearly.

But we can’t do it alone. We need your support to continue helping more animals and their humans – especially when time is critical and lives are at stake.

🐾 Comfort, Compassion & Care – Spay Day in Swakopmund 🐶🐱❤️

Spay Day can be a scary experience for a dog or a cat. They don’t understand what’s happening. There are new smells, strange sounds, and unfamiliar area and people. That’s why we absolutely love that the owners stay with their animals for as long as possible.

During our recent Spay Day in Swakopmund - made possible by the incredible support of - we again witnessed many touching moments where families sat close to their pets, offering quiet reassurance and gentle touch before the operation.

And just as importantly, they were right there again during the wake-up phase, making sure their beloved pets felt safe and supported as the anesthesia wore off. Only after the final check-up and green light from the vet team did they head home - together. 🏡

These moments reflect the deep bond between people and their pets, and they show exactly why we do what we do. It’s not just about preventing unwanted litters — it’s about supporting loving, responsible families who give their animals the best life possible.

Our First Spay Day in the Kavango Region 🐾

This spay day was a very special one - our very first Spay & Neuter Day in Nkurenkuru!

Thanks to the combined efforts of an incredible team, we were able to sterilise, vaccinate, and treat 22 dogs and cats.

In a region where veterinary care is limited, this kind of outreach makes a life-changing difference. Every spay and neuter means fewer unwanted litters, less suffering, and healthier animals who are protected from preventable disease and parasites.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made these two days possible:

* Dr Erika, Dr Mavynee & Bernard from Tsumeb Veterinary Clinic
* The dedicated organisers: &
* The amazing hosts:
* Accommodation sponsored by:
* And support from: Virbac

Have a Heart spay days are completely dependent on donations, and we are so grateful to each and every donor who makes this work possible. Your support directly funds sterilisation, vaccinations, parasite treatments, and medical care for animals who would otherwise go without.

This particular Spay Day is dedicated to a very special person - someone who deeply cared about animals in Namibia and her impact lives on through the lives we can save because of her love. We will tell you more soon.

Thank you for helping us help those who cannot speak for themselves.
This is just the beginning — more Spay Days are on the way!

Two weeks ago we met a very special family!

During our Spay Day in Swakopmund, this beautiful girl came in with her loving family to be spayed — and what a special story she has! 💖

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Fondation Brigitte Bardot, Have a Heart can support such amazing owners and she received the care she needed to live a healthier, safer life.

It’s clear from the moment you see them together: this dog is deeply loved. Her family waited patiently, held her close, and comforted her every step of the way. She’s not just a pet - she’s family. 💞

What makes this even more heartwarming is the young boy growing up with such a powerful example of kindness, compassion, and responsibility.

Our Story

This is the official page of Have-a-Heart Namibia - a much needed project which provides free spay and neuter services for dogs and cats of low and no income families across Namibia in municipal townships and informal settlements, in some areas currently without any veterinary services whatsoever.

Have-a-Heart is a registered non-profit organisation in Namibia (21/2014/0378) which aims to reduce stray animal populations in a sustainable and humane way, thus eliminating the need for mass euthanasia.

Have a Heart is solely relying on donations and run by volunteers. All donations received are used for spay, neuter and necessary medication. Our volunteers go out of their way to improve the lives of animals in townships and informal settlements by providing advice and physical help to pet owners who would otherwise have no access to such information or service.
