The new Dimension of security and funcionality in Dog Sports


WER STEHT HINTER R.S.? / WHAT IS BEHIND R.S.? Die Buchstaben "RS" stehen neben dem Produktnamen Running Safe-Reifen auch für die Initialen meines Namens: Rolf Schäfer. Ich bin Schlosser-Meister (HWK) und werde von meinen beiden Söhnen Mathias, Metallbauer-Meister (IHK) und Andreas (BWL-Student) in den Bereichen Produktion

und Marketing tatkräftig unterstützt. Meine Motivation für die Gründung von RS-Hundesportgeräte sind die 3 Hunde unserer Familie: Sando, Ronja und Woody. Für sie, wie für alle anderen Hunde, suchen wir nach kreativen Ideen und Lösungen. Mit der Gründung dieses Unternehmens haben wir uns vorgenommen, den Aspekt: sichere Geräte und die damit verbundene Gesundheit der Hunde im Sport die höchste Bedeutung zukommen zu lassen. Seit 1999 bin ich im Agilitysport aktiv und seit der Gründung des Vereins Agility Freunde Oppenheim 03 e.V. im Jahr 2003 dessen Vorsitzender. Bis auf die Tunnel habe ich für den Verein einen kompletten Agility-Parcours selbstentwickelt und gebaut. Da ich auch in anderen Hundesportarten, wie z.B. Obedience, aktiv bin, arbeiten wir auch hier in unserem Team an Lösungsmöglichkeiten bzgl. sicherer Sportgeräte.


/The letters "RS" stand on the one hand for the product name "Running Safe"-Reifen and on the other hand for the initials of my name: Rolf Schäfer. I am a Master in Metal Craft (HWK) and supported by my two sons, Mathias, Industry Master in Metal (CCI) and Andreas, Business Student, in the areas of production and marketing activities. My motivation for the establishment of RS-Hundesportgeraete came from the three dogs of our family: Sando, Ronja and Woody. For them, as for all other dogs, we look for creative ideas and solutions. With the founding of this company, we tackle the issues of creating secure devices and hence giving highest priority to the health of dogs in sports.

/Since 1999 I have been active in the Agility sport and since the founding of the Club "Agility Freunde Oppenheim 03 e.V." Besides the obstacle "tunnel" I developed and built the complete Agility parcours for the club by myself. As I am also active in other dog sports, e.g. Obedience, in our team we are generally working on solutions regarding safer sports equipment. DIE ENTSTEHUNG VON RS / THE EMERGENCE OF RUNNING SAFE

Die Idee zur professionellen Konstruktion von sicheren und funktionell ausgereiften Hundesportgeräten entstand aus der Kombination zweier Leidenschaften:

- Der Agilitysport mit meinen Hunden
- Die Faszination für funktionelle und ästhetisch ansprechende Konstruktionen

Das Hindernis "Reifen" ist für viele Agilityläufer mit Angst vor einer Verletzung des Hundes behaftet. Ein Vorfall während des Trainings auf unserem Vereinsgelände veranlasste mich zur Entwicklung eines Prototyps, des RunningSafe-Reifens. In unserem Verein zuerst eingesetzt, überzeugte und begeisterte er alle Hundesportler. Positive Resonanz bekam ich von zahlreichen und auch namhaften Agility-Sportlern und Profis. Alle stimmen in der Meinung überein, dass eine Anschaffung für jeden Agility-Verein in Frage kommt, da diese eine Investition in die Nachhaltigkeit des Hundesports darstellt. Aufgrund des großen Interesses und damit verbundenen Nachfrage entschlossen wir uns 2010 zu einer Firmengründung, um diese neuartige Reifen-Konstruktion jedermann zur Verfügung stellen zu können. Der "RunningSafe-Reifen" ist nicht das erste Produkt, was die Sicherheit und Gesundheit für den Hund an erste Stelle stellt, aber das erste, womit die neu gegründete Firma auf den Markt geht. Weitere Produkte, welche die Sicherheit des Sport-Hundes fördern, wurden bereits entworfen und mit Mathias werden zur Zeit neue Konstruktionen geplant und getestet.


/The idea for the professional construction of safe, functional and technically matured dog sports equipment resulted from the combination of two passions:

- The sport Agility with my dogs
- The fascination for functional and aesthetically pleasing designs

The obstacle "tire" is fraught for many Agility runners with anxiety about injuries of the dog. An incident during one of our trainings at our club grounds prompted me to develop a prototype of the Running Safe tire (RS-Tire). First put into practise in our club, it convinced and delighted every member and dog sportier. I got positive feedback from numerous and well-known Agility athletes and professionals. All agreed with the opinion that an acquisition for each agility club should not be jeopardized/questioned, because this is an investment in the sustainability of dog sports. Due to high levels of interest and related demand, we decided in 2010 to a found a company to provide this new type of tire construction and therefore making it available to everyone. The "Running Safe-Reifen" is not the first product that provides safety and health for the dogs, but it is the first product with which the newly founded company goes to market. Other products that promote the safety of the dog sport, have already been designed and in collaboration with Mathias we are currently planning and testing new designs and constructions.
