You took a cat from the street, but it doesn't eat dry food?

🐈 This happens: former stray animals do not quickly get used to a dry industrial diet. There are several possible reasons:

🔹 The habit of eating natural food. Street cats get their own food on their own: they catch mice, birds, and find leftovers in garbage cans. Dry food is very different from natural food, and at first the cat may ignore it.

🔹 Fear of new food. Cats are wary of the new type of food. Koteyka carefully tries unfamiliar foods, especially dry granules. This is a normal reaction of an animal accustomed to surviving in a wild environment.

🔹 Smell and taste . Some types of dry food have a specific smell and taste, unusual for outdoor cats.

🔹 The psychological factor. A cat may associate a new environment with danger or stress, so appetite temporarily decreases.

🔹 Health. Sometimes the refusal of food signals health problems. Be sure to consult your veterinarian if you notice any other disturbing symptoms.

What to do?

☑️ Offer small portions of wet food.
☑️ Gradually introduce dry food in small portions along with wet food.
☑️ Be patient and attentive to the behavior of the animal.

👉 Pay attention to the feed lines from Aller Petfood: they feature a variety of flavors and formulations of both dry and wet diets. Your pet will surely appreciate the dishes offered and find his favorite delicacy!

🐈 Cats are obligate predators. This means that their bodies are designed to digest and assimilate nutrients primarily from animal protein.

🔍 The feed label is your "passport". It contains all the necessary information. The list of ingredients is always in descending order by weight in the final product.

👉 Give priority to feeds where "meat" is first. It is advisable to specify the specific type of meat used.

Feed nutrients:

🔸️ Sources of protein: diversity is a sign of quality. Good food contains several sources of animal protein, such as chicken, turkey and fish. This provides a complete amino acid profile.

🔸️ Cats' digestive systems require fiber to function properly. Cereals are part of feed and contribute to the digestion of proteins. Corn, wheat, rice, and oats are some cereals used in animal feeds.

🔸️ Grain-free feeds are becoming more popular, but be cautious, as manufacturers may use other carbohydrate sources like potatoes, peas and lentils instead of cereals. These are not harmful, but should not be overused.

🔸️ In moderation, vegetables, fruits and berries are beneficial. They provide vitamins, minerals and fiber, such as pumpkin, carrots, spinach and blueberries.

🔸️ Fats: It is better if they are animal fat (chicken fat, fish oil, salmon oil) or vegetable oil (sunflower oil, linseed oil).

🔸️ Not all offal is bad. Some by-products (liver, heart, kidney) are a good source of nutrients, but their percentage should be small. Eliminate artificial additives, such as dyes, flavors, flavor enhancers. They have no nutritional value and can be harmful to cats' health.

🔸️ Taurine is an essential amino acid that cats cannot synthesize themselves. A lack of it can lead to vision and heart problems. .

🔸️ Omega-3 & Omega-6: These fatty acids have a positive effect on cats' skin & fur. It's good if they're listed in the ingredients.

🔍 How to choose high-quality pet food? Learning to read the composition.

Choosing the right diet is extremely important for maintaining the health of pets. Let's analyze the key aspects of proper nutrition selection based on a careful assessment of the product labeling.

1️⃣ Study the composition. The most complete picture is presented if the exact proportions of the key components are indicated on the package. Focus on the first four ingredients: the ingredients are listed in descending order of their quantity. That is, the ingredient listed in front prevails in the diet. Meat ingredients (protein) often come first in premium quality feeds.

2️⃣ Pay attention to the percentage of animal protein. The protein in animal feed is indicated as a percentage as part of a guaranteed analysis, which is an indication by the manufacturer of the proportion of nutrients in the feed. The norm of protein in dry food:

🐶 For adult dogs - 20-26% (depending on activity level), for puppies - 28%.
🐱 For cats - at least 26%, optimal - about 30%.

❗️ Excess of the norm is dangerous: excessive protein intake negatively affects kidneys and liver, causing metabolic problems and overall deterioration of wellbeing.

3️⃣ Assessment of ingredient quality. An important indicator here is not just the list on the packaging, but also monitoring pet's health: clear eyes, shiny coat, vitality and healthy appetite confirm correctness of chosen diet.

🔝 ALLER PETFOOD guarantees high quality of their food by clearly labeling percentage of meat content on each package. All our diets are designed in collaboration with nutritionists and vets and comply with FEDIAF standards.

We used to think of dogs as eternal optimists: tail wagging, eyes shining with joy 🐕

🤔 But is it true that our four-legged friends are always cheerful and happy with life?

✅ Yes, dogs also have days when they feel sad or depressed. This may manifest itself in decreased appetite, unwillingness to play, excessive drowsiness, or increased irritability.

Here are five main reasons why your dog may look sad:

1️⃣ Physical indisposition. Illness or discomfort often leads to decreased activity and a sad appearance.

2️⃣ Stress or anxiety. Relocation, the arrival of a new family member, or other environmental changes cause dogs to worry.

3️⃣ Lack of communication. The dog needs regular attention, games and walks. Lack of interaction causes feelings of loneliness and sadness.

4️⃣ Overwork or fatigue. Excessive exertion or intense training depletes strength, causing apathy and a decrease in the emotional background.

5️⃣ Improper nutrition. An unbalanced diet can lead to a deficiency of essential substances, deterioration of the general condition, and loss of strength.

👀 Pay attention to your pet's behavior and consult a veterinarian if you notice prolonged signs of sadness. Take care of your pets and be attentive to their conditions!

🐈 Chronic diseases in pets are becoming more common, and cats are not an exception. Many cats suffer from conditions such as chronic kidney disease, obesity and diabetes.

🍲 Proper nutrition plays a crucial role in controlling these diseases and improving the quality of life for pets.

The basic principles of nutrition for cats with chronic conditions are:

🔸️ For animals with chronic pathologies, the balance of protein is crucial. Protein is responsible for maintaining muscle mass and enzyme synthesis. It also helps with tissue repair.
🔸️ Kidney disease requires a moderate amount of high-quality protein, such as turkey and egg whites, to reduce the workload on the kidneys. An excess of low-quality proteins can increase intoxication in cats with CKD.
🔸️ Phosphorus is important for bone formation and energy metabolism. In cats with kidney disease, excessive phosphorus can cause mineral imbalances and worsen the condition. The optimal ratio of calcium to phosphorus is 1:1.
🔸️ Magnesium also plays a role in cellular processes and energy production. Excess magnesium can lead to mineral imbalances in cats with kidney problems.
🔸️ Regulates calcium absorption, muscle function, and vitamin synthesis. Magnesium deficiency in cats with CKD is associated with increased mortality, and excess is associated with the risk of urolithiasis.

Additionally:

• Sodium control to prevent hypertension and heart complications.

• The addition of omega-3 fatty acids to reduce inflammation in CKD and joint diseases.

• The use of probiotics to support the gastrointestinal microbiome.

• Regular monitoring of vitamin D and calcium levels to prevent bone disorders.

• Adequate water intake is essential to prevent dehydration, especially in cats with kidney disease. Wet food can help increase water intake and keep your pet hydrated.

☝️ Adjusting the diet requires an individual approach. For example, when CKD and hyperthyroidism are combined, feeds with high calorie content and limited phosphorus are used.

👉 All dietary changes should be coordinated with a veterinarian nutritionist based on blood and urine tests.

🔸 Furniture with elegant scratches.
🔸 Curtains seem to be decorated with exclusive claw embroidery.
🔸The clothes are covered in a layer of delicate wool.
🔸House plants are huddled on higher shelves or not at all.

😺 When leaving the house, your hand automatically reaches for a roller with sticky tape to remove the traces of the cat's hugs from your suit.

🐈 🩹 There's also a special collection of Band-Aids in all colors and sizes because the cat reminds you of its presence with a soft touch 🐾

But honestly, are you ready to change that?.. Definitely not!

City life has its pros and cons for pets. Here are some of them ⤵️

Pros:

✅️ Cities offer many opportunities for pet socialization, which is important for their psychological development.
✅️ A greater number of veterinary clinics and specialists are available, making it easier to get prompt medical assistance if needed.
