On Sunday, February 9th we hosted a Spay clinic in La Cienaga, Cabarete!

Thanks to the incredible work of Gisselle Alt. Santos Díaz and her Veterinary Surgeons on the Go team we were able to fix 40 dogs, provide one hernia surgery and two health checks! Improving the lives of many dogs and their families!

Thank you always to the 3 Mariposas Montessori for allowing us to use their beautiful facility! We are extremely grateful each and every time to hold our clinics in such a clean, large and gorgeous location! With such close proximity for our local families to easily transport their animals.

Thank you to Cocomutt Shak dog rescue for sponsoring half of the clinic and to everyone that donated towards and shopped at our last Pulga to allow us to raise the other half! As well as those who sponsored spays and donated directly!

Thank you to Gorditos for donating lunch to fuel our team of vets and volunteers! As well as to Vgfinthedr: for donating some delicious goodies! It takes a lot of energy to work these long clinics and good food really helps!

Thank you to all of our exceptional, dedicated and hard working volunteers who allowed the clinic to run smoothly and safely!

Including Daniel for your awesome doggy taxi service. Fran, Adrison, Sara, Fiorella and Dani for covering check-in/check-out, to Nadine, Manu, Fay, Sofia and Mika for watching over recovery. To Diony, Jana, Ollie and Fraimy for being extra helping hands and to everyone else who played a role whether transporting or helping register animals in need. And thank you for always being the best team, working together effortlessly and making our clinics fun!

Spay/neuter and vaccinations are the absolute BEST thing we can do to help the animals in the Dominican Republic and reduce the amount of homeless, suffering and abused animals as well as help the local families who love their pets.

The need for spay/neuter is forever ongoing! We continue to work towards fundraising and creating events & awareness.

After every clinic post I receive the same questions so let me answer here …. 🥰
1. Clinic is by registration only and we have a waitlist. These clinics are strictly for low income Dominicans/Haitians and street animals.
2. We do not have another clinic date as of yet. We are back to ground 0 for raising donations. Clinics are scheduled once we have raised the funds. It costs us $50 USD per animal. If you want to see more clinics, please help us with fundraising, creating new ideas and ways to reach more people or financial sponsors! (It’s just little Alia & Fran here trying to bring this all together as often as possible, we could really use your help and welcome anyone wanting to get involved!)

Next! We did a health check for a local dog’s Cherry Eye. Her name is Mini and she will require surgery immediately as her eye is already being damaged. We will schedule her an appointment for surgery most likely at Dr. De La Cruz in Sosua. If you wish to donate to help with Mini’s surgery please see below or contact me if you wish to donate directly to the veterinary clinic.

Also! You will notice we only fixed dogs this clinic. That is because we are planning to do smaller cat spay days! We have a list accumulating of cats in need. If you wish to sponsor a cat spay, it costs $3000 DOP, but any amount helps! You can even be sent a photo of the cat you spayed afterwards!

We ❤️ the 3 Mariposas Montessori!

Once a month, Alis (Alia’s Dog Training & Rescue), a friend, neighbor, and animal lover, baths our dogs with our students. In the Montessori method, caring for animals helps children develop compassion, responsibility, and respect for living things. It also helps them learn to be gentle and considerate, which can be applied to other relationships.

3 males and 1 female for adoption! 11 weeks old, 2 booster vaccinations done already and so adorable!

Included in their adoption is free training lessons, third DHPPL booster, rabies vaccination & spay/neuter once age appropriate, fitted collar, harness and leash, an adoption guide and lifetime discounts on all of our services (grooming, daycare, boarding, training). It’s a STEAL of a deal! Sets you and your pup up for a smooth adoption and a healthy fully vetted dog! We are here to assist our adopters with all of their dog needs for the lifetime of their pet!

Swelling has already gone down and all ticks are dead!! He will make a speedy recovery. Rubio is such an affectionate and sweet young pup, he just wants to be loved and cuddle on your lap. 🩷 So glad he was found so he can have a beautiful future!

Meet our newest intake Rubio! Thanks to Nicki for posting him online and raising awareness and to Nadine Gerndorf for being there the moment I texted her for help! Also thanks for all the video footage to show his condition. Rubio was tied up with a VERY tight thin rope around his neck, you couldn’t even fit a finger under it 🙄 likely abandoned due to his mange. He is now at home in isolation with a full belly and a lotioned face. We will get his mange under control and soon he will be the happy go lucky puppy he should be! Mange always looks horrible but is a fairly easy condition to fix up fast! Follow along for Rubio updates, he will need a loving home of his own soon! 🙏 We are currently WAY over full after taking in a litter from a flood victim, then having the chi’s dumped on us and now Rubio we just couldn’t pass over. If you have some space in your home and heart to adopt, it helps us continue to keep saving more! If you want to help, we would love donations of Puppy & Adult Canovi dog kibble, which can be purchased at most supermarkets here. It’s just my husband & I feeding all these dogs and we go through LOTS of food! 🙏

I posted this in a much longer video but it’s too cute not to share on its own!!! The other day Pistachio did his first tail chase. Lol!!! Toooooo cute.

The nut litter in their play room! It’s important to start socialization early, to new textures, sounds, objects, surfaces and give new experiences to learn from! These are going to be some wonderful companion dogs! 🥰 Six weeks old currently!

This video is my Christmas Gift!!! Look at our former rescue Milly living life to the fullest with her mom Kathi! She has the opportunity to herd cows now and she’s a NATURAL! Girl looks like she has trained her whole life for this. She is attentive and does an excellent job pushing them forward and corrects the cow every time they test her. Plus she’s constantly checking in with her mom and you can tell she is so proud and happy with herself. Milly has the best life and we couldn’t be more grateful!!!!! Thank you Kathi Rebearth!

They were all getting the hang of it! 💪 I am so happy and relieved that we had a good puppy day across the board. We needed a win tonight! 🥰

And don’t forget about the nut litter! I started testing them on formula today to see their abilities eating on their own. Chestnut was first up to the plate! My handsome little boy.. I am not picking favourites but this boy is so attentive and brave!
