Just a quick reminder about tomorrow’s meeting at 10:30 at the Poseidon.

We have a surprise special guest tomorrow, who hasn’t been to visit us for a while …

Helpers and friends of Gustavo’s and Daniel Mistele, the human who heads up our efforts, we now have a street dog in Manta who was just recently in an accident and has a broken paw. The estimated cost to repair his broken paw surgically and also to neuter him has been estimated to be $600. Appropriately $300 has been donated so far. The surgery has been scheduled for tomorrow in Manta. Also someone has stepped up to adopt this sweet street dog who’s been given the same “Guko” by those that have cared for him while living on the streets. He will need some rehab time before he can go to his new adopted home in Quito where he will have a fenced backyard and a loving human to care for him always.

Be mindful this is separate from our regular giving needs for Gustavo’s 100+ dogs we normally raise money every month or so. Thanks!

Helpers for Gustavo’s Sanctuary. 17 March 2023

From the proceeds from last meeting in January, we were able to purchase 16 quintals of rice.

This meeting-
Including our PayPal donations from Lisa C. and Pam F…
We collected $300.00

We’d also like to welcome Dana D., who noticed a (rare) post on our FB site!

In discussion, Dana voiced concern that we’re not actively taking advantage of our FB account.

Elaine added that Julie has an animal discussion group and said that she will “copy and paste” our meeting notices to that thread.

New Business-
Donkey Den Sunday brunch-
We discussed adding a “donation option” to the weekly menu / order form encouraging customers donate. Dan will reach out to Will who designs the order form.

Also discussed was hosting a “garage sale” with procedes to help with Gustavo’s too. We are considering dates in May, after the rainy/hot season ends.

Finally - we need to dispel rumors that the Sanctuary is receiving thousands of dollars a month from the city… In reality Gustavo’s receives a small monthly stipend of a little over $500.00 to allow him to pay for some workers and supplies…
